We've now reached the scheduled close and there are still 15 overs left. The over-rate has been rubbish.

One to Leach gives Buttler three balls to cause some damage in this over.

  3. Eng 245-8published at 75 overs

This is bizarre. England turn down the chance for Leach to take a single on the fifth ball to try and get Buttler on strike for the next over but then Leach does run through on the final ball.

Leach is laughing. I think he thought that was two but he's hogging the strike at the moment which is not quite what England will want.

  4. Eng 244-8published at 74.4 overs

Jack Leach and short leg Matthew Wade are having a friendly chat between balls. Leach is still holding firm.

Josh Hazlewood is good. Very, very good.

One of the reasons Australia picked Mitchell Marsh was to lighten the workload on Pat Cummins who, by all accounts, was tiring out by the end of the fourth Test. That same Pat Cummins is currently completing Mitchell Marsh's 15th over after the all-rounder pulled up with what looked to be a tight hamstring. Not ideal.

  7. Eng 244-8published at 74 overs

Pat Cummins bowls two bouncers and Jos Buttler can't get his single. Jack Leach will be on strike for the next over.

  8. Eng 244-8published at 73.4 overs

Jack Leach is getting into line and defending again, like we have seen him do bravely throughout this series.

Buttler gets onto strike but there's only two balls left in the over. The field spreads.

He did bowl a long spell after tea to be fair to Marsh. He's gone off the field. Pat Cummins will finish the over.

Mitch Marsh has gone here. Get him a glass water with plenty of salts in. He's got big hammies.

  12. ouch!

    Eng 243-8published at 73.1 overs

Marsh tries to come in again but aborts when he gets to the crease.

He's smiling so I think it's only cramp rather than anything worse. Mitchell Starc runs on with one of those energy gels.

Marsh has either got cramp or he has gone in the hamstring. He is stretching out after one ball in the over.

Mitchell Marsh is back to try and clinch that first five-wicket haul.

The Supreme Meme: Buttler has actually played himself back into contention here. Give him the gloves and bring in another specialist batsman.

  17. Eng 243-8published at 73 overs

England haven't got that right. Jack Leach is on strike for the fifth ball and takes a single. Jos Buttler then fails to keep the strike on the final ball.

The crowd has woken up from its miserable slump again.

  19. Eng 241-8published at 72.3 overs

This is English Test cricket everyone. Jos Buttler is now trying to ramp Josh Hazlewood to fine leg.

Buttler has played a lot better in the last two Tests, suggesting he could bat higher up the order. But he's got to do it more consistently.
