Behrendorff was about a week too late on that.
A venomous delivery first up to Jason Behrendorff who attempts a pull and the ball somehow squirts to the third man boundary for four.

Those criticising the booing and sledging of Steve Smith should remember that Stuart Broad was very, very harshly treated by the Australian crowds after his failure to walk after edging to slip. In fact the coach said that they hope the Australian crowds make him cry! Remember that and the fact that Smith Warner and Bancroft cheated very, very badly.

Coulter-Nile b Plunkett 1 (Aus 283-7)
Full. Straight. Out. Liam Plunkett keeps it simple to clatter Nathan Coulter-Nile's stumps and claim his fourth wicket of the innings.

It’s not the Jos Buttler scoop of beauty but that was a wonderful shot from Steve Smith. Too little too late for a big total for Australia though?
Steve Smith is enjoying this now. A pre-meditated scoop shot right over the wicketkeeper's head for six.

One of the best batsmen of all time has just been roundly booed for making a near faultless century. Remarkable. Not much of a celebration from Steve Smith: helmet off, a brief nod and the flash of his bat to acknowledge the applause finally breaking through the boos.

It was inevitable boos would ring out but that does nothing to take away from Steve Smith’s knock. You have to say very well played today from Smith with everything going on around him.
Aus 273-6
And there it is! A scrappy single but it does the job. A century for Steve Smith.
There is a smattering of boos but also plenty of applause. A top effort.

That was an extraordinary shot.

Wonderful catch! That was so difficult to judge.

Tom Curran misjudged that at first but did a fine salvage job to leap and take the catch. A decent burst from Alex Carey - much more what Australia needed than Marcus Stoinis' tortured knock.
Carey c Curran b Plunkett 30 (Aus 266-6)
Alex Carey skies one into the onside and that is a fine diving catch from Tom Curran running back from short fine leg.
Liam Plunkett is back and that's lovely from Alex Carey. Again he frees his arms and powers the ball over extra cover for four.
A lively end to the over as Alex Carey opens his body up and creams a beautiful drive down the ground for four.
What is this running all about? Alex Carey attempts a quick single with a push into the off side, Tom Curran fields off his own bowling and hurls in an effort that just misses the stumps.
That would have been close.
