So another eventful day for game seven at the 2019 Cricket World Cup and there are two matches for you tomorrow. We begin at Southampton as the mighty India make their entrance with a match against struggling South Africa - who are without Dale Steyn for the rest of the tournament because of injury.

The later match takes place at The Oval as New Zealand look to build on their 10-wicket win over the Sri Lankans with a fixture against Bangladesh. We'll be here from 09:45 BST and we look forward to your company then. Cheerio now.

Najibullah was run out for 43 in the 32nd over, however, the ninth Afghanistan wicket to fall - and the inimitable Lasith Malinga applied the coup de grace with a trademark yorker as Sri Lanka bowled out Afghanistan for 152 under the bright floodlights in the 33rd over to win by 34 runs.

And they added four more runs here with surely the most unlikely boundary of the competition.

Najibullah kept Afghanistan hopes alive with some more bold strokeplay.

The Afghanistan target was revised to 187 and Hazratullah struck some encouraging boundaries.

Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne: "We had a good start but suddenly we lost a couple of wickets. That's the negative part but otherwise bowling and fielding was a high note.

"After losing the first game, it's not easy. You have to keep your mind positive. We have experience in these conditions."

Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib: "We lost the momentum because they scored 100 runs early on. In the middle overs, we thought they would score 300-plus, so credit to Nabi for his spell there. Credit though should also go to the Sri Lanka bowlers for how well they bowled. The target was not too much - we prepared for that in the last few months - but we were missing something."

Afghanistan will be thinking of this as an opportunity missed. These are two teams at the moment who don't have the capabilities to have sustained pressure on the opposition. You're going to get a see-sawing kind of game. Pradeep put his hand up and then, when you're just getting ahead of the game, you can throw the ball to somebody like Malinga.

It was a good toss to win in decent conditions, but Afghanistan's seamers let them down. The spinners brought them back into the game with a storm of wickets.

There were 52 extras in that match - 35 in the Sri Lankan innings, 17 in Afghanistan's.

Having lost 17 of their last 21 completed matches it is a timely win for Sri Lanka. It also halts a worrying run for Malinga, who had not been in a winning Sri Lankan ODI team since September 2017, a span of 22 matches.

You can't help but feel a little sorry for Afghanistan. They were so good for large parts but the class, the experience of Malinga and co - I thought the Sri Lanka bowlers were excellent. Unfortunately for Afghanistan they never really got going in the chase. It's been a wonderful game of cricket.
