This is an extraordinary, error-strewn game. It's not been high-level, top cricket but it's been fascinating.

Just a handful of singles from the Perera over. The 20th over is completed and we can now say that we will now have a result, one way or another. Which side will prevail is rather less certain, with 91 needed from 21 overs and five wickets intact.

That's an absolute cracker. Gulbadin hasn't had much of the strike but a long half-volley, no pace from Malinga, and Gulbadin, the bat is as wide as a barn door.

    Target 187

Malinga back in the attack and his first two deliveries are dispatched to the boundary by Gulbadin, celebrated wildly by the Afghan supporters, resplendent in a variety of exuberant clothing and headgear. The excitement gets to the batsmen and they are guilty of running one short as the bat falls short of the crease. Five overs for Malinga now, one bowler can bowl a maximum of nine remember, and he has 1-31.

  5. Afg 82-5published at 18 overs

A mixed over from Perera, beat the bat a couple of times and guilty of two wides, the latter one for being over shoulder height. The game remains in the balance, 105 needed from 23 overs with five wickets remaining. The current rate s 4.55, the required rate 4.56.

Looking at Sri Lanka, they don't seem too keen. It was brilliant fielding by Udana.

Thanks Amy, plenty of support for both teams and the umpires are going to look at a run-out. Not too much excitement in the Sri Lankan team.

A bouncer from Nuwan Pradeep, bending his back and angling a ball past Najibullah's grille, and it's signalled wide by the umpire.

A smattering of dots, followed by the odd single, ends the over.

Najibullah has been at the wicket six minutes and there were three slips when he came in, now the fielders are scurrying to the boundary.

Need 114 more runs to win

Najibullah Zadran swings hard to work a four over the fielder at point.

Oh, and that'll be four more! A tempter, floated up outside the off stump by Thisara Perera, and another big drive through the covers adds another boundary to the total.

You always want to bat first against Afghanistan for two reasons; one you don't want to chase against Rashid Khan and two they are not historically good chasers. They are not used to winning these big games and pressure can get to them.

    Shot!

Najibullah whips out a cover drive and picks up a rare four.

    A terrific comeback.

  18. Afg 60-5published at 14 overs

    Target 187 (DLS)

That was a gorgeous bit of work from Thisara Perera. It missed the bat, flicked the top of the pad and sent the zing bails flying.

New man Najibullah Zadran scuttles three to get himself off the mark.

The big panda from Sri Lanka, that's what Perera is known as. It's all going horribly wrong here for Afghanistan.

    Nabi b T Perera 0 (Afg 57-5)

    A beauty!

Oh, Sri Lanka's seamers have been so good. Thisara Perera is appealing for lbw but there's absolutely no need. He's managed to sneak one through Mohammad Nabi's defences and splattered the stumps.
