Massive catch in the context of the game. He made it look quite easy but it was very difficult coming round from his left and dipping forward. In the context of the ability to lift this Sri Lankan side that is what they have been looking for.

I wonder if that's the catch that turns the game.

    Hazratullah c T Perera b Pradeep 30 (Afg 44-3)

    What a grab!

That is a superb piece of fielding from Thisara Perera. It's a bumper from Nuwan Pradeep, hurrying Hazratullah Zazai along, and he tries to flap it down to the fine leg boundary. Thisara runs forward, realises he won't quite get there and then leaps, full stretch, to his left, getting two hands underneath the ball just before it hits the turf. Superb.

In defence of Duckworth Lewis Stern, the total is reduced because Sri Lanka had lost so many wickets. It is Afghanistan's reward because Sri Lanka were never going to manage to complete 50 overs but that didn't matter as much because their overs got cut to 41.

The wicket will add more pressure to the young batsmen.

    Target 187 (DLS)

Streaky from Hashmatullah Shahidi, swinging hard at his first ball, but he's off the mark with a thick outside edge.

It was a comfortable catch, uncomfortably taken.

    Rahmat c Mathews b Udana 2 (Afg 42-2)

There's the edge, and there's the catch - eventually!

It's loose from Rahmat Shah, a flat-footed prod outside the off stump, and a thick edge flies to Angelo Mathews at slip. Mathews bends, lets the ball thud into his chest and manages to get both hands underneath it.

This partnership now worth eight runs - an Afghanistan World Cup record.

  12. Afg 42-1published at 7.2 overs

Ooft! An awkward press forward from Rahmat Shah, and he just about avoids sending the ball onto the stumps via the underside of the bat.

Chris Cullen: Hazratullah Zazai is a serious talent. Second highest score in T20 international history, has got a 12-ball 50, and has hit six sixes in an over and he's only 21. Of course we talk about the Afghanistan spinners but he could win them some games.

  14. Afg 41-1published at 7 overs7 overs

This has been a good comeback from Sri Lanka after their first couple of overs went the distance.

Lasith Malinga is right on the money, nailing that awkward, fuller length, and Afghanistan have to settle for singles.

  15. Afg 38-1published at 6.1 overs

    Oops.

That's, er, a slower ball gone wonky from Lasith Malinga. It barely hits the strip and Nigel Llong sticks his arms out to indicate a wide.

If this does become a 25-over match should you get as many overs as you can from your best bowlers as soon as possible?

Stump to stump from Isuru Udana, giving Hazratullah nothing to free his arms into, and a series of dots are all Afghanistan can work from the over.

Afghanistan's best second wicket stand in World Cup history is just six runs in the seven times they have batted.

    Target 187 (DLS)

Tidy from Lasith Malinga and he ends the over with back-to-back dot balls.
