Dawlat Zadran - look away now. Here's the clip he'd have hoped was wiped from our system forever...

  2. 50 runs

50 for Morganpublished at 38.1 overs

Eoin Morgan reaches his fifty with another big six! This one sends spectators ducking for cover over mid-wicket.

Morgan has 54 from 36 balls. Quick.

Joe Root is my favourite player. Rohit Sharma was glorious the other day, Virat Kohli is the best batsman aesthetically, but if you had to put £50 on someone to bat for your life...

Afghanistan are continuing to rotate their bowlers. Mujeeb is back.

Eoin Morgan sweeps behind square and if it had have been any other fielder it may have been four but Rashid Khan, still full of youthful exuberance rather than anger, slides to keep the runs to two.

He's showing the rest of the team how it should be done.

Hopefully Eoin's got his phone in his pocket to check the BBC live text at the end of each other - and just came across Richard's text. (12.51)

Disagree with Richard in London. A pigeon runs across the road instead of flying when it doesn't need to expend the extra energy. It knows what it's doing - who says we aren't just saving energy/performances for Australia and India?

I can confirm that the back of the temporary stand is a long way up, a climb of around 100 steps with scaffolding creaking all the way. Explorers employ Sherpas for shorter journeys.

  7. Eng 228-2published at 37 overs

England have hit seven boundaries in the last 5.4 overs. The charge is on. The run-rate has lept up to 6.13.

That was reminiscent of a snooker player - he knew the angles.

  9. Eng 225-2published at 36.4 overs

Brilliant from Joe Root. He leaps in the air like a gazelle and cuts the ball for four with both feet off the ground.

Dawlat Zadran is now receiving punishment with the ball.

  10. Eng 221-2published at 36.3 overs

Morgan has only faced 30 balls for his 44 runs. He has played this excellently after coming to the crease after Jonny Bairstow was out...

  11. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 18 June 2019

You've got to feel for Rashid there. He should have had Morgan's wicket. It was a terrible attempt at the catch from Dawlat Zadran. The two sixes just added to the misery.

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 217-2published at 36 overs

Dalwat Zadran should stay away from Rashid Khan for a while. Eoin Morgan pummels a second six in the over.

Morgan should have been out at the start of it but now he moves to 44 runs.

    That's drinks.

  13. 6 runs

    Eng 211-2published at 35.3 overs

Will Zadran redeem himself a ball later? No!

This is over the fielder's head. Six more to Morgan.

    More pain for Rashid Khan.

That is a horrible effort. This is abysmal. If there were a shovel anywhere nearby, you'd be digging a hole and lying in it. If there was a stinker of the tournament, that would be it.

  15. dropped catch

Morgan dropped on 28published at 35.2 overs

Awful, awful fielding. This is the worst we've seen today and there's some competition.

Eoin Morgan skies the ball towards Dawlat Zadran on the mid-wicket boundary. At no point does he look comfortable and he never gets into the right position. In the end he has to stick an arm out behind his head and the ball hits his palm, drops the to the floor and dribbles for four.

Rashid Khan just stands and stares in disgust.

England will win this game. But this game is precisely why they won't win the World Cup. Over the last two years, we would have kept attacking and easily gone past 380 and likely 400. But get to a World Cup and we start to play by statistics, and we will get no more than 320. I just don't understand the English mentality. We were number one for a reason.

  17. Eng 199-2published at 35 overs

    Run-rate 5.69

Joe Root stands tall and pulls through mid-wicket before sprinting a couple. There doesn't look to be much of an issue there.

He misses out with a full toss at the end of the over and drops his bat in disgust.

15 overs to go. Is 350 on?

  19. Eng 196-2published at 34.1 overs

Eoin Morgan isn't happy with his bat. He wants it changed.

While the sub-fielder runs on with a new one, Joe Root stretches his back out a few more times at the other end.
