  1. SA 29-1published at 7 overs

Sarfaraz Ahmed - as animated as ever - enthusiastically applauds Shaheen Afridi after a fine delivery gets Faf du Plessis playing and missing outside his off stump. South Africa yet to get going so far.

It has been a strong start for Pakistan. South Africa have played some nice strokes but have hit the fielders. That is the kind of pressure you want to build.

  3. SA 26-1published at 6 overs

More economical stuff from Mohammad Amir. Quinton de Kock finally thinks he has pierced the off side field only for Fakhar Zaman to deny him the boundary with a brilliant diving stop at point.

  4. Amir's first ball dismisses Amlapublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 23 June 2019

Here is the only wicket to fall so far. Mohammad Amir with a brilliant review to dismiss Hashim Amla.

This is the essence of patient batsmanship. By leaving all four wide deliveries the bowler was forced to bowl straighter and Du Plessis hit the half volley for four.

  6. SA 23-1published at 5 overs

    That's better.

Shaheen Afridi is a touch full and Faf du Plessis drives the ball through the covers for four.

    Lovely shot.

  7. SA 19-1published at 4.1 overs

Faf du Plessis, you lucky boy.

Shaheen Afridi comes into the attack, du Plessis looks to slash him into the off side but very nearly chops onto his stumps, the ball instead disappearing fine for four.

Zeeshan: Bowler of the tournament so far is Mohammed Amir - every ball is a wicket-taking delivery, and to think he wasn't in the original squad.

  10. SA 15-1published at 4 overs

That's another fine over from Mohammad Amir, just teasing that line outside Quinton de Kock's off stump. Even when he drifts onto leg de Kock can only push the ball straight to the fielder at midwicket.

  12. De Kock dropped in the first overpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 23 June 2019

Speaking of Quinton de Kock, here is how he was dropped by Wahab Riaz in the first over.

  13. SA 15-1published at 3 overs

Mohammad Hafeez continues and South Africa just look to calm things down with four singles. Quinton de Kock then pushes the ball through the covers but Shaheen Afridi does really well to run up the hill, dive and save the boundary. Top fielding, that.

Fair to say there weren't may us in the media centre who thought that was going to be out when Amir finally convinced Safaraz to take the review.

    Incredible!

Surprised Amla is playing. Obviously a great player but looks past his best to me.

  17. SA 8-1published at 2 overs

Next man in is Faf du Plessis. Cheers go up from the crowd as Mohammad Amir steams in. The South Africa skipper blocks his first ball but the next delivery smashes into his pads! Amir roars his appeal but the umpire says no and Pakistan opt not to appeal. Wise decision this time I think.

A couple of briskly run twos complete the over.

    It's all happening.....

Fantastic review. Mohammad Amir was the one who persuaded his captain. It did look like it pitched outside leg and was going down but it is out.

What a review! It looked to be drifting down leg but hawk-eye shows otherwise. Decision overturned and a key wicket for Pakistan!
