In the build-up to that wicket, South Africa squeezed Pakistan to just 10 runs between overs 26 and 30.

Strange passage of play this between two sides who have been far from their best at this tournament.

Neither really seems to want to take this game by the scruff of the neck and go for it. South Africa will undoubtedly be the happier of the two just containing and grabbing the odd wicket.

It's subdued this predominantly Pakistan-supporting crowd as well who were loving what they were seeing in the early stages.

Babar Azam clips crisply through mid-wicket and Lungi Ngidi has to lumber after one that teases him all the way to a metre inside the rope. Three runs.

New man Haris Sohail faces his first delivery and tucks Kagiso Rabada off his pads for a single to get off the mark.

That is only Aiden Markram's third ODI wicket, after he took two against Bangladesh on his debut. He's in his 24th match.

Ball tracking shows that was absolutely plumb.

Pitching on off and straightening to hit off stump halfway up.

I hadn't seen Markram turn one, but that one did straighten.

    And the pressure tells.

Aiden Markram goes round the wicket to the right-handed Mohammad Hafeez and pushes it very full.

The ball grips and turns before hitting Hafeez low on the front pad. A massive appeal from Markram, pause, then another and finally the umpire raises the finger.

Hafeez has a lengthy chat with Babar Azam about whether to review, so long the 15 seconds elapse and the umpires tell him he can't send it upstairs now.

Admittedly, my opinion is skewed because Moeen Ali is a fellow off-spinner, but England's batsmen went back to a style which didn't work for years and years. I was surprised when Eoin Morgan said he was pleased with the way England went out about the chase.

Pakistan are stalling a bit here. Just one from the over.

  10. Pak 139-2published at 28.2 overs

Andile Phehlukwayo jags one into the pads of Mohammad Hafeez. Huge appeal, not given.

And South Africa have no review left.

Doesn't matter though - that was bouncing over.

I've got something to say about England the other day. Moeen Ali has got stick for the way he got out. I'm on Moeen's side - he was the only player who stuck to the plan that has worked for four years. The fault lay with every other batsmen who went into their shell. Moeen was the only player trying to win the game.

A tidy start from Markram, just two singles from it.

Aiden Markram is coming on to bowl but there is a lengthy delay for some reason.

Is Hafeez waiting for the music to stop?

Finally it does, here we go...

Busy day for Imran Tahir so far.

Can't see that being the end of the Tahir drama, with the leg-spinner still having four overs to bowl.

Oh it's going over! And a long way over. Imran Tahir what have you done? I was with you, admittedly.

The benefits of getting a big stride in.
