That's a filthy pie from Matt Henry.

  2. Pak 8-0published at 1.2 overs

Oh, filth from Matt Henry, a juicy full toss, and Fakhar Zaman merrily clips it away through cover for four!

With the other new ball, it'll be Matt Henry.

  4. Pak 4-0published at 1 overs

    Target 238

    Short - and four!

Not the length for this pitch. It sits up and Imam-ul-Haq leans back to carve it away for a glorious boundary.

  5. Pak 0-0published at 0.4 overs

    Oh!

Brilliant from Martin Guptill, throwing himself to the left at slip as Imam-ul-Haq tries to dab a single through third man, and he just misses the stumps as Imam throws himself back into his crease.

  6. Pak 0-0published at 0.1 overs

    And he almost chops on!

Good from Trent Boult, getting Imam on the drive, and he inside edges into his pads.

Imam-ul-Haq will face the first ball...

Trent Boult has the ball in his mitts.

The Pakistan openers punch gloves and walk out to an almighty roar from the Edgbaston crowd.

Shall we have a run chase, then?

Pakistan need to go at 4.76 an over. Doable, yes. But it's a tricky pitch, and if New Zealand's seamers can get it right first up...

Now, you could stick with us during the break between innings - and we'd be delighted if you did - but we won't take offence if you decide to spend it reading about Chris Gayle instead.

You can do so by enjoying chief sports writer Tom Fordyce's deep look into the life of the Universe Boss here.

And you can check out our news story on how he's now planning to reverse his decision to retire from one-day internationals - and may even play a Test against India!

His comments came in a news conference this morning and the story is here.

Their 132-run partnership was crucial for the Black Caps - and Neesham finished just three short of a ton with 97 from 112 balls.

237 is what they're defending. Is it enough?

When Kane Williamson, so often the glue for New Zealand in this World Cup, New Zealand looked cooked. But a magnificent sixth wicket partnership between all-rounders Jimmy Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme - side note: we need more cricketers called Colin - propelled them towards the 200 mark.

New Zealand were in a whole world of trouble, having won the toss and opted to bat first. They were 46-4 after not a lot of overs...

    Cheers, Rosto.

A proper fightback from New Zealand. They looked down and out at 83-5.

Colin de Grandhomme gave up plenty of chances/scares in his knock but played a pivotal role. He was eventually undone by some sharp keeping.

  20. 'I'm backing us to chase that'published at 15:28 British Summer Time 26 June 2019

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur: "I'm really happy with how we bowled. I thought we hit our areas well and the execution of our skills was excellent.

"Shaheen Afridi is only 19, we've got to understand that. Today he was outstanding, he asked a lot of questions.

"Jimmy Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme played well. I thought we kept them at bay pretty well. I think there's always going to be a partnership, it's that sort of wicket, but they showed us how to play on the wicket. I'm backing us to chase that total."
