Pretorius 3-0-17-1
Kusal Mendis is the new man at the crease, and he lets his first ball go sliding past his off stump.

That is a poor dismissal on a good pitch. Avishka will be kicking himself all of the way back to the pavilion. He had played good strong cricket shots and taken advantage of the South Africa players not being able to control their line. That was a poor dismissal. He has given his wicket away.
Avishka c Du Plessis b Pretorius 30 (SL 67-2)
Whoops.
Ah, Avishka Fernando is furious with himself, and rightly so. He's gone for one shot too many, trying to swat Dwaine Pretorius back down the ground for the first big 'un of the day, and he's completely mistimed it. It goes high, high, high up into the air and Faf du Plessis settles himself at mid-on to take the catch.
Good catch. Awful shot.

Sri Lanka have ignored the first ball played with aggression and a great deal of skill.
Shot! Kusal Perera gives himself a little celebratory fist punch as he takes hold of a drifting Dwaine Pretorious leg side delivery and tickles it away fine for four. Lovely stuff.
And now Avishka Fernando is in on the act! A glorious lofted drive, holding his stance, and Avishka hustles him away over mid-wicket for four.

Someone explain to me how SL are challenging for SF place... yet they don't have a single batter in the top 25 scorers for this world cup at the moment? Ps England to go through, it's all good.

Andile Phehlukwayo whirls through his latest over, and Sri Lanka content themselves with a series of singles.

I am 100% here for Jonny Bairstow going full Nasser.
Anyway. A change for South Africa - here's Andile Phehlukwayo, replacing Kagiso Rabada.

If Jonny gets a ton on Sunday, we'll see the best celebration to the press box since Nasser at Lord's in 2002!

Whoops. That's down the leg side from Dwaine Pretorius, radar going awry, and Avishka Fernando helps it on its way to fine leg for four.
Pretorius ends the over with a loud, lengthy appeal for lbw against the same man. That's hit him very high, though, and the umpire shakes his head.

Rabada 4-0-26-1
Four!
Lovely from Kusal Perera, taking a floaty full toss from Kagiso Rabada and thumping it away past mid-off for a boundary.
It's been a decent start for Sri Lanka after losing their captain first ball.
Avishka 18, K Perera 13
Tidy enough from Pretorius first up, and a single is all Sri Lanka can work from the over.
Fun little battle, this. South Africa's bowlers are drawing the errors out but there's been some cracking shots.
A change for the Proteas, with Dwaine Pretorius replacing Chris Morris.
