    GONE! First ball!

An absolute snorter from Kagiso Rabada! It's that extra pace, rising up on Dimuth Karunaratne, and he just has a horrible flap at it, trying to drop his hands out of the way and making a mess of it. The ball flies into the air off what I think is the glove and it's a comfortable catch for Faf du Plessis at second slip.

    What a start!

Kagiso Rabada will, unsurprisingly, open the bowling for South Africa.

I imagine South Africa have had conversations about putting on a show for their fans. They can't just go out of this tournament with a whimper. Faf du Plessis won't allow that.

South Africa have just one win to their name thus far in the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup; they have never previously won fewer than three games at an ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and will need to win their remaining two to reach that mark.

Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne: "If we can put a score on the board, hopefully the bowlers will do the rest. It was great against England that the experienced guys stood up. We're looking at winning this match first, then we'll think about the next two."

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis: "Looking at the stats, they are in favour of bowling first. I've got a bowling attack which is more of a seam attack, so we're hoping the seam movement first up will be something to work with. We're playing an extra batter today, so hopefully that frees them up. We've been playing catch-up in most games."
