Ilyas Najib: If the Afghanistan team can somehow make 250, I think it’s game on, they have three fantastic spinners and would cause most teams trouble in these conditions.

I do think Afghanistan should have persisted with Hazratullah Zazai a bit longer.

Everyone has a bat in the end don't they. Maybe that's how England can confuse India. Chuck Plunkett in at three when Vince gets out.

Shot! Afghan takes two steps down the track and tonks a massive six over deep mid-wicket. That's landed in a student's yard.

He goes again, top edge, will be out....no! Lands safe.

Afghanistan need to be given a proper brief and find a proper combination with the bat. I can understand someone who is in form being promoted so they face the maximum balls possible but there's nothing of that kind in this side.

There is just no way of knowing who is going to come out and bat next for Afghanistan and I think that is part of the problem.

  8. Afg 62-3published at 13 ovesr

Bowled! Ikram is nearly cleaned up by a ripper from Hafeez but he just about keeps it out in the end. Afghan is off the mark with a paddle sweep.

Afghanistan need to get a good batting catch who has been there, done it all, seen it all and can give good guidance to the younger players.

Ashgar Afghan is the new batsman. Always great to have a player with the name of his team in his name. Or near. Arsene Wenger, Wolfgang Wolf.

He was batting so well. He needed to do that for the next 10-15 overs and get up to 50-70, look at small milestones.

Rahmat is going to have to be dragged off the pitch. He's gifted Pakistan a wicket.

    Rahmat c Babar b Imad 35 (Afg 57-3)

He can't believe it. On his haunches, leaning on his bat and looking down at the pitch. But Rahmat is a goner, one ball after that superb shot.

Another leading edge, trying to pick a single through midwicket and instead looping the ball tamely to Babar at mid off.

It has been an impressive start by Rahmat Shah, he's got to go on and get a big score.

What a shot that is! A ramped sweep off the spinner, not really sure how Rahmat pulled that off but it was superb. Deserved more than four.

In 1992 we didn't have Afghanistan and Bangladesh as well. We beat the unbeaten New Zealand in 92, just like we did on Wednesday.
