Two sessions in and this match is neatly poised following a spirited fight back from Warwickshire this afternoon.
Captain Jeetan Patel's sheer determination has helped his side wrestle back an element of control from Kent, who were at one stage cruising along on 169-1.
But Craig Miles got Australian Matt Renshaw to nick a drive behind, Harry Brookes then dismissed Daniel Bell-Drummond cheaply before Patel himself snatched the big wicket of centurion Zak Crawley (pictured above), all caught behind by wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose.
Despite being dropped on 46 at second slip, Crawley's second first-class hundred was almost flawless and brilliant to watch. The 21-year-old hit 18 boundaries in his knock of 108, and looks set to make a big impression in Division One this summer.
Middx 181-4 v Lancs
Out!
Superb delivery from Jimmy Anderson, angling the ball across Dawid Malan who edges a waist high catch to Keaton Jennings at first slip.
Time for Eoin Morgan to have a bat.
Notts 246-9 v Somerset
He's done it!
Five wickets in the innings for Lewis Gregory - who hoops one into the Notts number ten Luke Fletcher and the ball clips middle and leg.
Here's the latest away from Lord's and Chester-le-Street:
Worcestershire have had the better of day one at Grace Road so far, where they're 230-3 at tea against Leicestershire.
Daryl Mitchell has just been dismissed for 114 and Hamish Rutherford has 67 not out so far.
Honours are just about even at Bristol, where Derbyshire are 182-4 against Gloucestershire. Tom Lace is the top scorer so far, with 83 before being caught behind off the bowling of Matt Taylor.
Marnus Labuschagne has dominated the day's play at Cardiff with an unbeaten 118 for Glamorgan against Northants. Billy Root is unbeaten on 50 and the hosts are well placed on 248-3.
Notts 237-8 v Somerset
Luke Wood may yet add a batting point or two for Notts if he carries on in this attacking vein.
Luke Fletcher joins him in the middle for the evening session of play.
Middx 175-3 v Lancs
Can Dawid Malan and Max Holden... hold out till the new ball?
We're about to find out.
James Anderson to bowl.
Warwks v Kent 229-4
We've got a real contest on our hands here, with the dismissal of Daniel Bell-Drummond and centurion Zak Crawley in quick succession hauling the hosts back into the match.
Honours even going into the evening session.
Division One:
Ageas Bowl: Hampshire v Yorkshire 224-2
Trent Bridge: Nottinghamshire 237-8 v Somerset
The Oval: Surrey 223-4 v Essex
Edgbaston: Warwickshire v Kent 229-4
Division Two:
Chester-le-Street: Durham 113-5 v Sussex
Sophia Gardens: Glamorgan 248-3 v Northamptonshire
Bristol: Gloucestershire v Derbyshire 182-4
Grace Road: Leicestershire v Worcestershire 230-2
Lord's: Middlesex 175-3 v Lancashire
Yorkshire 224-2 v Hampshire
And that's tea at the Ageas Bowl as well where Yorkshire have exactly doubled their total since lunch to move to 224-2.
Gary Ballance (73 not out) and Joe Root (71 not out) have shared an unbroken 115-run partnership for the third wicket so far.
It looks like hard work once again for the bowlers.
Surrey 223-4 v Essex
Honours even in the morning session, most definitely bragging rights to Surrey in the afternoon one.
Just the one wicket has fallen for the defending champions as Ben Foakes looked in total control with his 69.
Since then, Ryan Patel (40 not out) and Will Jacks (22 not out) have kept their feet on the throttle.
Essex may have another injury worry to contend with now as skipper Ryan ten Doeschate hobbles off mid-over before the break while having a bowl.
