  2. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Durham 113-5 v Sussex

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Cold days are not the best to be fielding in the slips, but that doesn’t seem to matter to Chris Jordan, who must be one of the best fielders in the County Championship.

A magnificent low catch accounted for Cameron Bancroft, as the new Durham Captain departed for 33 made in 159 balls.

The hosts have struggled on a slow pitch against accurate Sussex bowling, on a day which has seen just six boundaries.

  3. Somerset seize controlpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Notts 237-8 v Somerset

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Lewis Gregory continued his fine start to the season on the first afternoon of Somerset’s Specsavers County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The seamer, who had taken three wickets in the morning session, took the first one to fall afterwards to speed Notts towards 237 for eight at tea.

Tom Moores and Samit Patel had dragged the home county back towards parity in a stand of 58 before Gregory sent two of Patel’s stumps sprawling for 33.

Moores got to within three of a half century before nicking Craig Overton to slip and the same bowler then bowled Stuart Broad, off his pads, for five.

  4. Tea at Lord'spublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Middx 175-3 v Lancs

Stevie Eskinazi will be fuming at his dismissal, a strangle down the leg side, but this has been a good session for Middlesex - who are up against a very strong bowling attack here.

Malan is unbeaten on 18 and Max Holden is on 19.

  5. Tea time!published at 15:50 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

  15. Marnus makes immediate impressionpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Glamorgan 209-3 v Northamptonshire

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Marnus Labuschagne - we've plumped for Lab-u-shane as a pronunciation - has proved an immediate success here for Glamorgan.

Conditions are very docile, batsmen have been able to trust the pitch and punch at balls nowhere near a half-volley, and the Australian has bided his time well to take full advantage on Championship debut.

I've been impressed with his leg side play - using any angle available to turn off his legs. Some of his timing has been exceptional.

He and Billy Root have quickly picked Glamorgan up after losing a wicket half and hour after lunch to their first point of the summer.

  16. Crawley made to waitpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

WICKET Eskinazi c Guest b Bailey 75published at 15:21 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Middx 151-3 v Lancs

Ugh, Stevie Eskinazi is strangled down the leg side as he looks to glance Tom Bailey to fine leg and feathers it to Brooke Guest.

The new batsman is Max Holden.

  18. Trial by spin at Edgbastonpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 187-2

Jeetan Patel bowls to Zak Crawley, now on 95.

His first ball ricochets off the pads for four leg-side byes and the fourth is driven through the covers for four. 99.

He looks for a single to square leg off the last but there's no run there.

And the old commentator's curse strikes again.

Ben Foakes gets a fine edge on a Simon Harmer delivery that ricochets off wicketkeeper Robbie White and into the hands of Sir Alastair Cook at first slip.

Welcome breakthrough for Essex. Will Jacks in at six.

All Surrey in this afternoon session. Little to shout about for Essex with the ball.

Ryan Patel and Ben Foakes have now added 95 for the fourth wicket without too much alarm.
