  1. 50 stand for Red Rose openerspublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Middx 265 v Middx 55-0

Keaton Jennings may have had a reprieve in the slips but he's making it count and this is a decent start for the Red Rose at Lord's. Hameed has played his part too.

Shot! Haseeb Hameed cuts late behind square for four.

He drives James Harris imperiously through the covers for another four to see his side past 50.

A gorgeous on drive gives Hameed four more. Another four! This time through mid-wicket.

Harris has been plundered for 16 off the over.

  2. 400 up for Yorkshirepublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Yorkshire 402-5 v Hampshire

Fifth batting point in the bag for Yorkshire as Jack Leaning cuts a boundary off Gareth Berg in dismissive fashion.

Just in time too with an over to spare in the cut off. Hampshire need another wicket in this over to take a second bowling point.

  3. Glamorgan pile on the big runspublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Glamorgan 510-7 v Northamptonshire

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

A dream start to 2019 for Glamorgan yesterday and despite losing a little impetus this morning, they still have a huge total and are batting Northamptonshire completely out of the game.

You'd get good odds on a fourth centurion now though.

Northants have been much better with the ball. Despite a very flat pitch and nothing happening in the air yesterday, there was nothing to stop them bowling at the top of the off stump and they failed to settle at all and were hit all around Sophia Gardens.

How Glamorgan would now love to turn the screw with the lower order - Marchant de Lange, a former javelin thrower, has already hoisted a six towards the River Taff.

  4. 50 runs

50 Tom Abellpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Notts 263 v Somerset 155-3

A lovely drive through extra cover by George Bartlett takes the batsman to 50 after a battling 49 against Kent in the last round.

    96 balls and five fours.

Meanwhile, here's a bit more info on on of the sub fielders at Trent Bridge...

For the record, Dwayne Leverock represented Bermuda in the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

  5. Cook off the markpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 5-0

Alastair Cook off and running with a boundary, but not in the most convincing fashion.

Ball skews away of a leading edge along the ground down to third man off Morne Morkel. Could be another intriguing battle against his former adversary from the Test arena.

  6. 100 runs

100 for Ollie Robinsonpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 442-7

This easily surpasses anything he did with the bat in last summer's championship.

    166 balls and 17 fours.

The Bears may be in the field for some time yet.

  7. Cook v Morkelpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

Here comes Sir Alastair Cook to take guard at The Oval for the first time since his momentous final Test innings for England last summer.

Essex fans will be delighted if he can repeat the score from that day as Essex start their reply.

  8. Bears toil at Edgbastonpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 437-7

Craig Miles drops short and Ollie Robinson pulls to mid wicket for his 14th four.

Two more fours come in the over - one through long off and one punched through mid-wicket to take the batsman to 98.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Tom Abellpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Notts 263 v Somerset 138-3

A timely half century indeed for the Somerset captain, who came to the crease last night after a top order wobble.

    105 balls and five fours.

  10. Surrey dismissed for 395published at 12:13 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex

Surrey all out as Morne Morkel can't resist the chance to try and dispatch his countryman Simon Harmer over the rope.

But, all he does is find the hands of Peter Siddle at mid-on to depart for 7. Ryan Patel unbeaten at the other end on 100.

Surrey fall five short of a fifth batting point and 400. Essex will start their reply shortly.

WICKET Patterson c Dawson b Berg 34published at 12:10 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Yorkshire 374-5 v Hampshire

Steven Patterson is finally dismissed by Hampshire after his sterling nightwatchman effort.

Liam Dawson clings on to a catch at point and Gareth Berg has a second wicket of the morning session in quick succession.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Jack Leaning in the middle together now for the White Rose.

  12. Abell and Bartlett hold firm for Somersetpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Notts 263 v Somerset 133-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Somerset’s fourth wicket pair of Tom Abell and George Bartlett have enjoyed a trouble-free opening hour at Trent Bridge.

Notts have rung the changes, with five different bowlers employed, but the wicket has lost much of its pace and both right-handers are starting to flow.

  13. 100 runs

100 for Ryan Patelpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Surrey 395-9 v Essex

    Ryan PatelImage source, Rex Features

A fine moment for Surrey's Ryan Patel with his maiden County Championship century!

Cuts a couple behind square to come back in time to get there off 277 balls with 17 fours.

  14. Jennings and Hameed at the crease - as Ed Smith watchespublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Middx 265 v Lancs 33-0

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

It's a story of hopefuls for an England opening berth at Lord's - all under the watchful eye of Ed Smith today.

Alex Davies injured his hand when dropping a catch on day one, so Keaton Jennings is joined at the top of the order by Haseeb Hameed.

The former edged towards third slip off Toby Roland-Jones, but the ball fell a couple of yards short of Dawid Malan and that apart, it's been a most solid and assured start from the pair against a formidable Middlesex attack.

The hosts likewise field openers with lofty ambitions in Sam Robson and Nick Gubbins - the former having already scored a Test Hundred but it was the latter who impressed with fifty yesterday.

  15. The Bears turn to spinpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 421-7

Jeetan Patel brings himself into the attack... and after a tidy five balls he kicks at the turf in disgust as his sixth ball, a little wider, is clattered through the covers by Robinson for four.

    Tough times for the hosts.

  16. Notts toil for wicketspublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Notts 263 v Somerset 129-3

A bit too much width from Henry Brookes and Tom Abell carves through point for four to move to 45.

Three more runs off Jake Ball at the other end to take the partnership to 93.

  17. wicket

WICKET Ballance c McManus b Berg 148published at 11:58 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Yorkshire 371-4 v Hampshire

Gary Ballance's marathon innings is finally over at the Ageas Bowl.

Gareth Berg gets one to rise on him suddenly and the left-hander can't quite pull his gloves out the way in time.

Lewis McManus tales the catch behind the stumps and Ballance departs after 307 balls.

  18. Landmark time for Ballance (again!)published at 11:52 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Yorkshire 368-3 v Hampshire

Gary Ballance probably wants to wrap up the Ageas Bowl pitch and tuck it under his arm and take everywhere with him.

Such is his enjoyment of batting here - he has just passed 1,000 first-class career runs on the ground.

He's now 147 not out and nightwatchman Steven Patterson (31 not out) has offered valuable support this morning.

  19. Somerset rebuild at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Notts 263 v Somerset 114-3

    AbellImage source, Getty Images

Steven Mullaney drifts in to the pads with the last ball of the 40th over and Tom Abell tucks the ball around the corner for four to move to 39.

George Bartlett has 29 and the partnership is worth a handy 79.

  20. Jennings dropped on 9 by Dawid Malan off TRJpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Middx 265 v Lancs 14-0

Dawid Malan gives the England opener a second life as a he grasses a sharp waist-high chance at third slip off the bowling of Toby Roland-Jones.

Given his championship form last summer, how many runs will that cost?

He runs a single to move to 10. Hameed is two not out at the other end.
