  2. Elsewhere in Division Two...published at 11:44 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

The state of play at Grace Road, Bristol and Cardiff...

It was very much a batsman's day at Cardiff yesterday, but less so today with Billy Root and Kiran Carlson both falling early this morning within seven overs of each other.

Glamorgan are still in charge though, with 461-6 against Northants.

Hamish Rutherford has been prized out for 123 by Tom Taylor but Worcestershire are still in a good position at Grace Road, on 390-5 against Leicestershire.

Gloucestershire are enjoying a great start on day two at Bristol against Derbyshire with the early wickets of Anuj Dal and Logan van Beek.

    The visitors are now 275-9.

    Durham 224 v Sussex 0-0

Just 14 runs added this morning by Durham before losing their last two wickets.

Ollie Robinson finished with 4-53 and is already into double figures for wickets taken this season.

However, on a pitch offering some help to the seamers and cloudier skies than yesterday, this Durham total may be better than it looks.

  5. wicket

WICKET Podmore lbw b Sidebottom 6published at 11:35 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 403-7

Robinson might run out of partners here.

Harry Podmore plays around a straightening delivery from Ryan Sidebottom and is stone dead leg before.

Matthew Milnes is the new man in. They've got 400-plus but is that enough on this surface?

  6. Maximum batting points for Kentpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 401-6

Ollie Robinson is well forward to Henry Brookes, gently pushing into the covers for two to take Kent past 400.

Good morning for the visitors so far, even after the early loss of Stevens.

  7. Red Rose batting at Lord'spublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Middx 265 v Lancs 0-0

Lancashire will be very pleased to dislodge Middlesex for 265 on a decent surface but the hosts have a very fine bowling attack of their own and remain well capable of getting back into this match.

Keaton Jennings and Haseeb Hameed (remember him?) to open the batting.

    Tim Murtagh to bowl.

Word on the street is that Yorkshire are looking to bat long into the day rather than risk losing early wickets going for maximum batting points.

They will easily pass 350 inside 110 overs, but will not risk pushing for 400 unless the Hampshire bowlers tire early.

There's been lots of comments overnight about the run-rate in the Yorkshire innings around and during the last session yesterday.

Despite substantial innings from both Joe Root and Gary Ballance, the run-rate dropped as the day wore on.

  9. Kent approaching 400published at 11:28 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 398-6

Sidebottom bowling to three slips but his third ball drifts into the pads and Ollie Robinson nudges to square leg for two.

A play and miss outside off for the 5th and 6th ball.

Sussex have taken just 20 or so minutes to claim the last two remaining Durham first-innings wickets this morning.

Ben Raine and Chris Rushworth the two victims for David Wiese and Ollie Robinson respectively.

Robinson finishes with figures of 4-53 for Sussex who will be out there starting their reply to the hosts' 224 shortly.

    Middx 265 v Lancs

Tom Bailey tempts Toby Roland-Jones with a bit of room outside off and the batsman slaps the ball straight to Jimmy Anderson at cover.

That's the end of the Middlesex innings and a haul of 5-67 for Bailey.

  12. wicket

WICKET Stevens lbw b Brookes 23published at 11:16 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 383-6

    Early breakthrough for the Bears!

Henry Brookes gets one to hoop into Darren Stevens, who looks to leave it....

The ball brushes the pad en route to the keeper and the umpire raises his finger.

Harry Podmore is the new batsman.

  13. Ballance keeps racking-up runspublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Yorkshire 326-3 v Hampshire

Gary Ballance looks like he's settled back in for another long stay at the Ageas Bowl crease.

A characteristic cover drive for four off Kyle Abbott sees him move to 125 not out.

He's now closing in on 1,000 first-class runs on this ground alone.

  14. Murtagh on the attackpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Middx 252-9 v Lancs

Tom Bailey drops a bit short and the Middlesex number 11 swings to square leg for four.

There's the second batting point for the hosts.

  15. Younger Root falls early on second daypublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Glamorgan 433-5 v Northamptonshire

Another early wicket to fall this morning is that of Glamorgan's Billy Root at Sophia Gardens against Northants.

The younger brother of Joe was a first-day centurion for the hosts but has been unable to add any more to his overnight score of 126.

  18. Kent up and running at Edgbastonpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 373-5

Milnes gives Stevens a bit of room outside the off with his second ball and the batsman bludgeons it through the covers for four.

Kent are out of the blocks early. A couple of leg byes take Kent to 373.

  19. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 367-5

A timely second first class century from Zak Chappel (108) has given the visitors the upper hand so far in this game, but it's a good wicket and they'll look for a few more runs on the board.

Ollie Robinson (59 not out) and Kent stalwart Darren Stevens (19 not out) are the men in the middle.

    Tom Milnes will bowl first.

  20. Day Two begins at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Notts 263 v Somerset 74-3

    This could get very tense.

Great start for Somerset and especially for Lewis Gregory (6-68) after bowling Notts out for under 300 on a decent pitch, but those three Somerset wickets before stumps on day one mean it's just about even-stevens.

Somerset captain Tom Abell (22 not out) resumes with George Bartlett, unbeaten on nine.

Last night's danger man Stuart Broad to bowl.
