James Vince on his way cheaply for the second time in this game as Steven Patterson claims another wicket for Yorkshire.

Not much doubt about it as one keeps low and jags back in from outside off to the opener and up goes the finger.

    Hampshire still 229 runs behind.

  3. wicket

Out! Adam Hose edges Mitch Claydon to the slips and that's a regulation catch for Matt Renshaw.

    Still nine overs left tonight.

    Surrey 395 & 35-0 v Essex 448

    OvalImage source, Rex Features

Give yourself some space to stretch out mate....

Not a huge number in at The Oval today and this gentleman has taken advantage of the vast array of available seats.

Rory Burns and Mark Stoneman have seen off any threat from the new ball so far in this second innings.

Surrey trail by just 18 runs now as we move towards the close of day three.

  6. wicket

WICKET Gubbins c Maxwell b Andersonpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Middx 265 & 0-1 v Lancs 427 - trail by 162

That's a healthy lead with good contributions from Rob Jones (122) and Dale Vilas (68) after Haseeb Hameed's first championship century in almost three years earlier in the innings helped to lay the foundations.

Nick Gubbins is out in the first over!

Late movement from Jimmy Anderson and a loose drive is edged to Glenn Maxwell in the slips.

  7. 'An appalling wicket' for cricketpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Glamorgan 570-8 dec v Northamptonshire 515-4

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Past the 280-over mark in this game now and only 12 wickets have fallen.

A simply appalling wicket that will undoubtedly just be marked down, but not sufficiently for any punishment.

These types of pitches are far worse for the game than any green top or bunsen.

Northamptonshire will be very content to just bat through the final day.

Having forced Middlesex to follow-on and being sent into the field first here, they have sent down over 300 overs with only a two-day gap and a long coach journey in-between.

Letting the bowlers rest up ahead of Wednesday's One-Day Cup opener will be their priority tomorrow one would think.

  8. ouch!

Matt Milnes injured at Edgbastonpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 41-3 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 117

The physio is on the field, who looked to have landed awkwardly while in his follow through and hurt his ankle.

The Warwickshire batsman take a breather and Milnes is back on his feet.

Looks like he's OK to carry on.

His last ball drifts into the pads and Hosew takes an easy single with a dab to mid-wicket to get off the mark.

  9. Yorkshire wait for breakthroughpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 302 & 19-0 (f/o)

No wicket yet for Yorkshire in Hampshire's follow-on, but there have been some half-chances.

Nothing sticking to hand as yet.

James Vince (10 not out) and Joe Weatherley (6 not out) standing firm in the evening session.

  10. Bears three down at Edgbstonpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 40-3 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 118

Big appeal for lbw against Sam Hain off Mitch Claydon but it looks a bit leg side.

Good, disciplined bowling from Kent with very little respite for the Bears batsmen.

And here's a reminder of just how good the fielding has been...

    Warwks 346 & 36-3 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 122

Superb bowling from Harry Podmore in this spell, with 2-10 so far.

Three slips and a gully and plenty of chat in the field to keep the batsmen on their toes.

Adam Hose leaves outside off and there are 14 overs left.

  12. In Division Two...published at 17:18 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

Here's the state of play in our second division games:

In a rain interrupted day three at Lord's, Lancashire look to have wrestled control of the game away from Middlesex.

Rob Jones fell for 122, lbw to Murtagh and the Red Rose are now 159 ahead on 424-9.

Leicestershire are still in danger of defeat at home to Worcestershire, but the hosts have recovered to 105-3 after losing three wickets for 31.

    They remain 146 in arrears.

Derbyshire are 57-2 in their second innings against Gloucestershire in Bristol, with Billy Godleman and Luis Reece both caught behind off Matt Taylor and Ryan Higgins respectively. They trail by two runs.

The run feast continues in Cardiff where Northants are 74 behind Glamorgan on 496-4.

Ricardo Vasconcelos and Rob Newton both scored centuries, taking the total number of centurions on both sides to five.

Sussex faltered in their fourth innings target to beat Durham at Chester-le-Street and slumped to 24-2, but Luke Wells and Stiaan van Zyl are repairing the damage and have taken the visitors to 63-2. Another 149 required to win.

  14. Watchful start by Burns and Stonemanpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 & 12-0 v Essex 448

Despite that first ball for Rory Burns from Jamie Porter, few alarms for him and his opening partner Mark Stoneman in this Surrey second innings so far.

Stoneman has a couple of fours already to his name to move into double figures.

  15. wicket

WICKET Banks c Riley b Podmore 9published at 17:14 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 30-3 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 128

    What a catch!

Liam Banks miscues a drive off a rising ball by Harry Podmore and the ball flies to Riley in the gully...

He dives and clings on with one hand. The lights are coming on at Edgbaston just as the sun is in danger of setting on their innings.

  16. Bears battle to hang onpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 22-2 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 134

This pitch has played well so far but a ball from Harry Podmore keeps a bit low.

Maiden over and 18 more overs for Warwickshire to survive tonight.

  17. Bears in trouble at Edgbastonpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 22-2 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 136

Crucial partnership between him and Liam Banks now.

19 overs left in the session.

  18. Hampshire follow-onpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Hampshire 302 & 0-0 (f/o) v Yorkshire 554-7 dec

Hampshire are indeed asked to follow-on by Yorkshire.

There's still 25 overs scheduled to bowl before stumps and Joe Weatherley and James Vince have a tough task on their hands.

  19. Close for Porter!published at 16:54 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 & 0-0 v Essex 448

Jamie Porter in to Rory Burns at the start of Surrey's second innings and he almost gets a wicket.

Burns nearly steers a return catch to the seamer off a leading edge but it evades the dive of Porter in his follow through!

  20. Siddle shows worth once morepublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 & 0-0 v Essex 448

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Peter Siddle underlined his value to Essex with an unbeaten 41 to add to his six-wicket haul in the Surrey first innings.

That has helped establish a useful 53-run lead for Essex and although the draw is firm favourite, the visitors do at least have an opportunity to put the champions under pressure in this final session.

Essex have a good recent away record against Surrey and can now push for three or four wickets this evening to set up a victory chance.

It would be no surprise if Siddle is the key man again.
