  1. A 'tepid contest' plods onpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Glamorgan 570-8 dec v Northamptonshire 445-3

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Northamptonshire were flogged in the field after tea on day one and in the half hour to lunch yesterday.

Their reply has been more of a slow death because they too have now occupied 125 overs and still trail by a fair chalk.

In the context of this tepid contest, a loss of 3-50 either side of lunch was quite the collapse.

But Josh Cobb - given a chance at number four at the start of this season - and Rob Keogh have restored the visitors' position.

Attendance here down on the first two days of the game.

As is generally the case, Saturday not proving a popular day for watching county cricket. There are always calls for more county matches across the weekend, but I doubt it would bring any more into grounds.

  2. 6 runs

Patel takes last wicket stand to 50 in stylepublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 327-9 v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 177

    What's going on here?

Jeetan Patel has taken a liking to Adam Riley and launches him over his head for a maximum.

That's an unlikely 50 partnership and the Kent lead is down to 177.

Can they avoid the follow on? 28 needed.

  3. wicket

WICKET Berg c Tattersall b Olivier 0published at 15:40 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Hampshire 274-8 v Yorkshire 554-7 dec

Poor shot form Gareth Berg in the circumstances for Hampshire.

Duanne Olivier sends him down a bit of a rank short and wide one which he tries to cut but only manages to edge behind.

He departs without scoring and now the Hampshire follow-on looks inevitable.

  4. In Division Two...published at 15:37 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

So Sussex need 212 to beat Durham at Chester-le-Street. Elsewhere:

Play has resumed after rain at Lord's, where Lancashire have reached 350-4 against Middlesex.

That's a lead of 85. Rob Jones has 98 and Dane Vilas has 52.

Leicestershire are following on at Grace Road and are 31-2 against Worcestershire, trailing by 220.

Both wickets, Ateeq Javid and Paul Horton, fell to Charlie Morris.

Northants continue to plunder runs at Cardiff, just as Glamorgan did in racking up 570-8 declared earlier in the game.

The visitors hve avoided the follow-on and now have 440-3, with centuries for Ricardo Vasconcelos and Rob Newton.

    But they're still 130 behind.

Gloucestershire have been dismissed for 350 at Bristol and Derbyshire in their second innings are 53 behind on 6-1.

  5. Somerset wrap up big win against Nottspublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Nottinghamshire 263 & 126 v Somerset 403

In case you've just joined us, you may not be aware that we've already had a result come through this afternoon.

Somerset's bowlers, including a couple of Jacks, made quick work of wrapping up Nottinghamshire's second innings to win big at Trent Bridge.

    Read all about it below...

Siddle and PorterImage source, Rex Features

Peter Siddle and Jamie Porter steer Essex to a fifth batting point and past 400 at The Oval.

Picking up a small lead as well now, but it's going to take something quite extraordinary in the third innings you feel to put a positive result in the frame.

Stevens struck on the shinpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 313-9 v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 191

He's not getting a huge amount of sympathy in the field but that looks like it may smart a bit.

Adam Riley continues the bowling and Patel takes a couple off the third.

He's bowling way down the leg side here and this 10th wicket pair may well carry on for a while yet.

  8. Tail wags at Edgbastonpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 311-9 v Kent 504-9 dec

Shot! The Warwickshire number 11 Sidebottom drives Milnes down the ground for four to move to 16.

This partnership has taken Warwickshire to what seemed an unlikely third batting point after Sibley's dismissal and is now worth 38.

  9. wicket

WICKET Northeast c Tattersall b Olivier 99published at 15:29 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Hampshire 264-7 v Yorkshire 554-7 dec

    Agony for Sam Northeast!

He falls for 99 after spending about 30 minutes stuck on that score and not being able to find a gap in the field.

Duanne Olivier bowls him one that swings away late though and brushes his outside edge to give Jonny Tattersall the catch with the gloves on.

Hampshire now looking a long way off making Yorkshire bat again as they still need 141 more to do so with three wickets in hand.

  10. Essex take the leadpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 398-8

Shot from Jamie Porter off Tom Curran with an uppish drive through the covers.

It not only takes him off the mark but gives Essex the lead of three runs.

Looked highly unlikely yesterday afternoon when they lost both openers cheaply.

  11. Durham dismissed for a second innings 189published at 15:22 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Durham 224 & 189 v Sussex 202 - lead by 211

The hosts have gone into tea with a slender lead and four sessions of play left in the game for Sussex.

Gareth Harte kept Durham in the contest with a battling 138-ball innings of 74, but only Ned Eckersley (21) and James Weighell (24) made telling contributions after Cameron Bancroft fell for 22.

David Wiese dismantled the tail with 5-43, which included the scalps of Trevaskis and Raine for ducks in three balls.

    BBC Sussex's Adrian Harms says:

At lunch Durham looked almost down and out, but an undefeated 74 from Harte, who batted very sensibly with the tail and added 83 valuable runs for the last three wickets.

Wiese was the pick of the bowlers taking 5-43, but on a pitch still offering help to the seamers this game is too close to call.

The players are taking an early tea, meaning a marathon final session of 47 overs.

  12. ouch!

McManus wears one from Olivierpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Hampshire 268-6 v Yorkshire 554-7 dec

Painful looking moment for Hampshire wicketkeeper-batsman Lewis McManus as he tries to duck under a short ball from Duanne Olivier.

Howerver, it does the horrible thing of following him as he squats and hits him on the side of the helmet.

Break in play, but hopefully McManus will be able to continue with Sam Northeast on the small matter of 99 not out at the other end.

  13. Bears nine down at Edgbastonpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 288-9 v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 216

Still three slips in for Mitch Claydon and Sidebottom plays and misses outside the off.

He gets away with a single off the fourth ball through the covers and Patel sees out the over.

The follow-on figure is a long way off and its surely a matter of when rather than if.

  14. Somerset top the table after beating Notts - for nowpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Notts 263 & 126 v Somerset 403

That crushing win by an innings and 14 runs gives Somerset a total of 43 points - and for the time being top spot on the Division One table, while Notts are currently third, though that will change should Yorkshire beat Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

Six wickets in the second innings for Jack Leach, by the way.

  15. Warwickshire nine down as Sibley resistance endedpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 283-9 v Kent 504-9 - trail by 221

The last pair are at the crease for Warwickshire, Ryan Sidebottom and Jeetan Patel.

Kent spinner dam Riley to bowl, with one slip and a forward short leg crouching and ready to pounce

Ooh! Jeetan Patel goes for an almighty heave down the leg side, misses and gets away with it and that's four byes.

WICKET Ten Doeschate lbw b Plunkett 130published at 15:02 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 385-8

Big booming inswinger from Liam Plunkett and Ryan ten Doeschate is trapped in front of all three.

Up goes the finger and there ends a very impressive innings from the Essex skipper with 130.

Chance here for Surrey to still grab a slender lead as Essex still 10 behind.

  17. Kent take a strangleholdpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwickshire 273-9 v Kent 504-9 dec

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Kent's persistence, with accurate bowling all day, has finally been rewarded in the last few minutes with a burst of three wickets in 11 balls for Harry Podmore pushing Warwickshire close to the likelihood of following on.

The third and most important was Dom Sibley, whose six-and-a-half hour stay, worth 132 runs, was ended when he was hit on the pad coming forward.

In his previous over, Podmore had Tom Milnes sharply caught by Adam Riley in the gully, and pinned Craig Miles to the crease, out lbw.

Mitch Claydon piled through the breach by inducing Henry Brookes to edge to second slip, and at the fall of the ninth wicket Warwickshire were still 82 short of the follow-on mark.

  18. SOMERSET BEAT NOTTS BY AN INNS & 14 RUNSpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 13 April 2019
    Breaking

    Notts 263 & 126 v Somerset 403

It all ended in a hurry for Notts, who lost their last three wickets in eight balls for six runs.

First Luke Wood holed out to Marcus Trescothick at mid-wicket off Jack Brooks for a 14-ball duck.

In the following over, Samit Patel miscued an attempted leg glance off Jack Leach and was pinned lbw to give the spinner his sixth wicket in the innings, leaving Notts nine down in 59 overs.

And the very next ball saw Stuart Broad dismissed, top edging a hook off Jack Brooks, caught in the deep by Azhar Ali. Phew.

WICKET Harmer b Clarke 17published at 14:49 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 383-7

    Ooops!

Simon Harmer gets this all wrong as he for some reason decides to jump across his stumps to Rikki Clarke and try and manufacture a shot.

Didn't really need to and all he does is miss the ball completely and Clarke rearranges his furniture so to say...
