WICKET Bancroft c Brown b Hamza 22published at 11:52 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Durham 224 & 63-3 v Sussex 202

So no big score on debut for new Durham skipper Cameron Bancroft, and the Australian won't be happy with himself after that shot.

Pakistan left-armer Mir Hamza sends down an angled delivery which is well wide of off stump and demanding to be left alone. Bancroft, though, goes for the drive and edges through to the keeper.

He looks at the ground for a few moments before departing, as if wishing it would swallow him up.

  2. Rossouw charge continuespublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 121-4

Rilee Rossouw refuses to be tied down. He absolutely leathers a ball from Duanne Olivier through the covers for four, and in the next over by Ben Coad, he holds the pose for a few moments after a more controlled stroke brings him the fifth boundary of his innings.

When faced with a batsman in this mood, it's comforting to know you have 554 runs on the board, so Yorkshire certainly won't be panicking. Rossouw is 28 not out, and Sam Northeast has 38.

  3. Davey back in the attackpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Notts 263 & 57-2 v Somerset 403 - trail by 83

Josh Davey in the attack now, bowling full and straight every time.

Ben Slater shows the bat maker's name with every block.

  4. Sibley and Ambrose at the crease for the Bearspublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 163-4 v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 341

Stevens offers Ambrose a bit of width outside off but the keeper-batsman is happy to leave.

Probably best early on in his innings with three slips in place.

    Maiden over.

  5. wicket

WICKET Lawrence c Burns b Clarke 93published at 11:41 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 253-5

    What a shame.

It's a double change by Surrey and Dan Lawrence goes to Rikki Clarke's second delivery, caught by solitary slip Rory Burns after pushing forward defensively.

Lawrence only added six to his overnight 87 not out, and he is replaced by debutant Robbie White, who deflects his first ball to the third man boundary to take the score past 250.

  6. Overton tests Fletcherpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Notts 263 & 55-2 v Somerset 403 - trail by 85

Change of bowling at Trent Bridge, where Craig Overton alternatives between forcing Slater to dance to chin music and then go forward to defend.

He's equal to the task though and takes a single off the fifth.

    Fletcher sees out the over.

  7. Surrey turn to spinpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 249-4

With the scoring rate too high for their liking, Surrey switch tactics and bring on left-arm spinner Freddie van den Bergh. His first over of the morning is a maiden - no mean feat with Ryan ten Doeschate in aggressive mood. He now has 61 and Dan Lawrence is 93 not out and seemingly willing to bide his time to reach three figures.

  8. Rossouw in a hurrypublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 100-4

Kolpakker to Kolpakker at the Ageas Bowl and Rilee Rossouw helps himself to back-to-back fours off Duanne Olivier.

The first is slammed through cover off the front foot and the second, a little shorter in length, is pulled away with some authority.

A third boundary follows as the over costs Olivier 14 runs. Told you Rossouw doesn't like hanging around (see 11:23 entry).

  9. In Division Two...published at 11:34 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

Here's the latest in the second division games, away from Chester-le-Street:

Northants continue to pile on the runs at Cardiff and will need to continue to do so after their Glamorgan hosts racked up 570-8 declared.

The visitors are 267-0 with Ricardo Vasconcelos on 144 and Rob Newton on 92.

We could be in for a close contest at Bristol, where Gloucestershire are 214-5 against Derbyshire.

    They trail by 77.

Leicestershire are struggling a little at home to Worcestershire, where they're 200-5 and trailing by 353.

Lancashire continue to build their lead against Middlesex at Lord's where they're 289-4 and 24 ahead.

  10. wicket

WICKET Hose c Robinson b Milnes 31published at 11:31 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 137-4 v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 367

Matt Milnes is getting into a good rhythm here and has Adam Hose playing and missing outside the off...

    Got him this time!

An out-swinger finds the edge of the bat - and that's a good catch by the keeper Robinson.

    Tim Ambrose to bat next.

  11. 50 runs

for Ryan ten Doeschatepublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 243-4

Dan Lawrence and Ryan ten DoeschateImage source, Rex Features

Ryan ten Doeschate forces the opening delivery of a new Tom Curran away off the back foot for four, and a cover drive later in the over carries him to a 54-ball half-century.

By way of celebration, he repeats the stroke, this time a little squarer, and again finds the boundary. Fine counter-attacking batting by the Essex captain, who now has 10 fours in total. Why bother running when you don't have to.

  12. Runs flow at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Notts 263 & 53-2 v Somerset 403 - trail by 87

Too short from Brooks and Slater pulls him behind square for four to take Notts past 50.

No single at the end of the over this time, so Fletcher to face Gregory.

  13. Slater holds firm for Nottspublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Notts 263 & 49-2 v Somerset 403 - trail by 91

Slater pounces on a leg side ball from Gregory and guides it away through mid-wicket for four.

He takes a single off the fourth so can Fletcher see out the over?

He can. The last ball is drifting down leg and a slightly airborne but safe paddle to leg brings the nightwatchman four.

  14. wicket

WICKET Abbott c Brook b Coad 1published at 11:23 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 88-4

Strike one for Yorkshire as nightwatchman Kyle Abbott gives a bat-pad chance to Harry Brook at short leg, which he takes above his head.

Rilee Rossouw is the new batsman, and it's a fair bet he won't be opting for simply occupying the crease. Could be some fun coming up.

  15. Tendo takes positive approachpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Surrey 395 v Essex 224-4

Essex skipper Ryan ten Doeschate is seemingly intent on not allowing himself to be tied down by Surrey's pace attack, and after a slightly fortuitous boundary from a thick edge in Morne Morkel's last over, he adds another with an authentic off-drive from an overpitched delivery.

He and Dan Lawrence have now posted a half-century partnership - with Lawrence now just nine runs short of a century.

  16. Sibley and Hose resist at Edgbastonpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 150-3 v Kent 504-9 dec

A bit of a hold up at Edgbaston as a member of the ground staff is in the middle with what appears to be a bucket of sand, presumably to repair a part of the wicket.

A rare leg side ball from Stevens but Sibley can't get a bat on it.

The next ball is pushed out to point for a couple.

Shot! Sibley drives through the covers off the back foot for a couple more. That's the 150.

  17. False shot by Northeastpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 80-3

A slice of luck for Sam Northeast as Yorkshire fast bowler Duanne Olivier bangs one in short and he is late on an attempted hook shot, but collects four off the edge as the ball flies away over the head of the keeper.

Northeast made a big century against Essex last week, and Hampshire could do with another from him today if they are to avoid the prospect of having to follow on.

  18. Good start for Slaterpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Notts 263 & 33-2 v Somerset 403 - trail by 107

A bit of width from Jack Brooks this time and Ben Slater drives firmly to mid off for four to move to 17.

Time for Fletcher to face Gregory now.

  19. Sibley and Hose batting for the Bearspublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Warwks 147-3 v Kent 504-9 dec - trail by 357

Just the one run from a tidy Darren Stevens over but Matt Milnes loses his radar a little and Sibley dispatches him for successive fours off his second and third ball.

So far so good for the Bears.

  20. wicket

WICKET Lees c Brown b Wiese 14published at 11:08 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Durham 224 & 34-2 v Sussex 202

There's our first wicket of the day and it's Durham opener Alex Lees who is the man to go.

It's a fine delivery from David Wiese, which moves away from the left-hander and Ben Brown takes an easy catch.

Gareth Harte is the new batsman, joining skipper Cameron Bancroft, who has added a single to his overnight 14 not out so far.
