WICKET: Ashwin c Bartlett b Leach 41published at 17:30 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Notts 95-6 v Somerset - target 255

Jack Leach - who took a 5-for in the first innings - has his fourth scalp of the second, and it's a biggy. Ravi Ashwin was holding this innings together for Nottinghamshire and will be so disappointed with the nature of his dismissal.

He chips the Somerset left-arm spinner to mid on, straight into the arms of the fielder.

Somerset need four wickets, Notts need 160 runs.

    Surrey 271 & 124-4 v Kent 369

Another big wicket for Kent and the evergreen Darren Stevens.

The medium-pacer finds the outside edge of Ben Foakes' bat with a classic outswinger and wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson takes the catch for his fourth catch of the innings.

Surrey are four down with a lead of just 26.

    Bucket hands HIldreth strikes again.

Samit Patel edges Jack Leach to become the spinner's third victim. James Hildreth takes the catch at second slip, his third of the innings.

Patel came in as a concussion replacement for Chris Nash. He had to drive down from Nottinghamshire to bat in the second innings. He made one run.

I hope Notts paid for his petrol.

Jeetan Patel and Henry Brookes are standing defiant at the Ageas Bowl. They and last man Oliver Hannon-Dalby have another 15 overs to survive if it is to amount to something momentous, but it's been a great effort.

Captain Patel has 37 and Brookes 14.

  5. Huge target for Leicestershirepublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Durham 117 & 487-7 v Leicestershire 202

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Leicestershire have been set a target of 393 to win in 116 overs after Durham declared their second innings on 487-7.

It ended when Liam Trevaskis was out for a career-best 64, having added 103 for the seventh wicket with Ned Eckersley who made 47 not out.

It was Durham’s highest seventh wicket stand against the Foxes, beating the 61 from Graham Clark and James Weighell in Chester-le-Street last season.

Leicestershire once scored 394 when batting last against Derbyshire in 1947. The target then had been 391.

Slight delay now though because of rain but due to resume at 17:15 BST.

for Dean Elgarpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Surrey 271 & 116-3 v Kent 369

That's a second half-century of the match for the South African.

He gets there with a nudge for one off Harry Podmore. Surrey's lead is 22.

WICKET: Mullaney c Hildreth b Bess 9published at 17:00 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Notts 67-4 v Somerset - target 255

Big wicket for Somerset as Notts captain Steven Mullaney is gone.

James Hildreth takes a sharp catch at leg-slip as Mullaney misjudges a spinning delivery from Dom Bess. Misjudges is an understatement, it totally bamboozles the Notts skipper.

Notts are still 188 runs from their victory target.

    Essex 94-2 v Yorkshire - target 92

Nick Browne and Daniel Lawrence see Essex to victory against YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

Dan Lawrence hits the winning runs down to wide third-man for four runs off the bowling of Duanne Olivier and this match is done inside three days.

Lawrence and Nick Browne ultimately guide Essex to what was a modest victory target of 92. Yorkshire's failure to make the most of batting first is where this match was lost really, as the hosts went on to secure a 120-run advantage on first innings.

This could well be a crucial victory in the Championship title race.

  9. DURHAM DECLARE - LEICS NEED 393 TO WINpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Durham 117 & 487-7 dec v Leicestershire 202

Before the fourth innings can begin, the rain arrives at Grace Road, but it looks like it was just a passing shower and play is scheduled to resume at 17:15 BST.

    Nice one Tom!

Tom Helm has repaid my earlier name check to him and has Ben Charlesworth caught at gully for two. That's five wickets down for five runs.

    Gloucestershire are melting.

WICKET: Westley st Tattersall b Maharaj 31published at 16:45 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Essex 61-2 v Yorkshire - target 92

A moment of madness from Tom Westley. He comes charging down the wicket with only 31 needed and is stumped off the bowling of Keshav Maharaj.

He was looking so good as well after an impressive 81 in the first innings. Maybe just got a bit carried away chasing that early finish.

    Gone for 31.

  12. Hanging onpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Warwickshire 259-8 v Hampshire - target 404

if Warwickshire are going down to defeat as it appears they are, they're going down fighting.

Henry Brookes has 13, Jeetan Patel has 12 and the ninth-wicket stand is worth 24.

The new ball is three overs old.

  13. Middlesex racing towards a winpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Gloucestershire 40-6 v Middlesex - target 216

Division Two's bottom club Middlesex have torn through the Gloucestershire batting line-up as they aim to complete a rare win tonight.

Toby Roland-Jones has taken the two most recent wickets after Tim Murtagh started things off with the first three. I'd feel harsh not to mention that sandwiched between was a Tom Helm wicket too, well done Tom.

Basically Gloucestershire have gone to bits. 216 looks miles off.

  14. Essex strolling to victorypublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Essex 60-1 v Yorkshire - target 92

Since the resumption, the runs have flowed for Essex duo Nick Browne and Tom Westley.

Just 32 further runs required and it seems they're keen to have an early finish. Two sixes and five fours between them.

    This one is done.

WICKET: Borthwick c Robinson b Milnes 0published at 16:33 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Surrey 271 & 107-3 v Kent 369

Two in two for Matt Milnes but Ben Foakes survives hat-trick ball.

Same combination of Milnes and Ollie Robinson that got rid of Rory Burns, but the dismissal of Scott Borthwick for a first-ball duck is more orthodox.

He gets a regulation outside edge and Robinson grabs it. Surrey lead by nine.

Rory Burns won't be happy with that shot. The Surrey captain goes for a big hook off Matt Milnes but gets a top edge through to Ollie Robinson.

At least that's what the umpire thought. Burns didn't seem convinced but he's on his way.

    Warwickshire 239-8 v Hampshire - target 404

What a ball that is by Felix Organ to get rid of centurion Sam Hain.

Hain was probably worried about the prospect of the imminent new ball and the hostility of Kyle Abbott and Fidel Edwards. Turns out he should have been concerned with Felix Organ's off-spin.

The Hampshire debutant pitches one well outside off stump, Hain shoulders arms but it turns square, possibly out of a foot hole, and bowls him.

That's a ripper and Hampshire are on the brink.

A big breakthrough for Hampshire ahead of the new ball with Ben Mike sent on his way by Ian Holland.

After making his highest first-class score, Mike gets a feather on a ball from the medium pacer and the catch is taken by wicketkeeper Lewis McManus, standing up to the stumps.

The partnership with Sam Hain was worth 120, Three more required by Hampshire.

    Notts 35-3 v Somerset - target 255

I stuck my neck out half-an-hour or so ago and said I thought they'd be finished at Taunton tonight. My justification was the spinning wicket.

Well here comes big Jamie Overton in the first over after tea with some pace to take the outside edge of Tom Moores and give James Hildreth the millionth slip catch of his long career.

That breaks the run of 20 straight wickets falling to spin in this match.

    Jamie you spoil sport.
