    Warwickshire 160-6 v Hampshire - target 440

There have not been many positives for Warwickshire in this match but the return to action of Olly Stone was one and the return to form of Sam Hain is another.

The first-innings centurion is 71 not out and Ben Mike is unbeaten on 39. They have added 50 for the seventh wicket but the Bears need 244 more.

  2. Maharaj giving Yorkshire a chancepublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Yorkshire 208 & 175-8 v Essex 328

Kesh Maharaj hits out for YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

This is some effort from Keshav Maharaj for Yorkshire. He's really not known for his batting, but he's trying to change that at Chelmsford.

The South Africa spinner is now 79 not out from just 62 balls - there've been seven fours and five sixes. He is taking apart an Essex attack that has torn through the Yorkshire batting line-up.

He and Ben Coad have now put on almost 50, with Coad scoring only six.

    Yorkshire lead by 57 runs.

for Azhar Alipublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Somerset 147-8 & 326 v Notts 241

A very important 50 for Azhar Ali and Somerset as he's helped take their lead to 231.

165 balls that's taken. Wow, real patience.

It's setting up a very difficult chase for Notts in the fourth innings.

WICKET: Stoneman c Robinson b Stevens 14published at 14:14 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Surrey 271 & 29-1 v Kent 369

Kent have their first breakthrough at The Oval and it's Mr Reliable Darren Stevens.

He takes the outside edge of Mark Stoneman who's caught behind. Surrey still trail by 69 runs.

  5. 50 runs

for Keshav Maharajpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Yorkshire 208 & 147-8 v Essex 328

    What did I say?

Keshav Maharaj goes barmy and reaches 50. He clatters a straight six, is dropped at midwicket and the ball rolls for four, clatters another six. Basically he's giving Simon Harmer the treatment.

Six fours and three sixes in this handy knock from the South African.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Patterson c Cook b Porter 4published at 14:03 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Yorkshire 208 & 129-8 v Essex 328

Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson nicks seamer Jamie Porter to slip and the safe hands of former England skipper Alastair Cook make no mistake.

Essex are closing in. As things stand, they'll be chasing an overwhelming 10 to win.

Ben Coad can hit it though and he's joined Kesh Maharaj at the crease. There could be fireworks now.

Or it could be all over in two minutes.

    WICKET: Bess lbw b Patterson-White 5published at 13:57 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Somerset 115-8 & 326 v Notts 241

Dom Bess becomes Liam Patterson-White's fourth victim as he's trapped lbw for five. Perversely, the Somerset spinner probably isn't that disappointed to be out so cheaply.

He'll get to bowl in tandem with Jack Leach pretty soon. They'll have a very helpful surface and more than 200 runs to defend.

All eight Somerset wickets have fallen to spin. In fact, that's 16 consecutive wickets to fall to spin in this match. Ben Slater was dismissed by Jamie Overton yesterday morning - what were you playing at Benjamin?

  8. wicket

    WICKET: Gregory c Budinger b Patterson-White 9published at 13:54 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Somerset 115-7 & 326 v Notts 241

Liam Patterson-White is straight back in to the wickets post-lunch with his third of the day.

Lee Gregory tries to work one in to the legside but simply picks out the mid-on fielder.

Somerset's lead is 200 now though.

  9. Yorkshire move ahead!published at 13:53 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Yorkshire 208 & 121-7 v Essex 328

Led by Kesh Maharaj, who is now on to 31, Yorkshire had edged ahead of Essex which means we will have a fourth innings at Chelmsford.

White Rose skipper Steve Patterson is blocking up an end and Maharaj is showing he's no mug with the bat at the other.

  10. Hampshire underway againpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Warwickshire 129-6 v Hampshire - target 404

    Weather forecast

They're playing again at The Ageas Bowl, and if Warwickshire were praying for some help from the weather they might be disappointed.

Meanwhile, Michael Yardy is leaving Sussex for a new role Down Under.

  14. Middlesex rallypublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Middlesex 172 & 171-7 v Gloucestershire 201

Middlesex have fought back through Toby Roland-Jones (24 not out) and Tom Helm (25 not out) and now lead by 142 runs at Merchant Taylors' School against Gloucestershire.

A flurry of wickets made it look as though Glos could even be batting before the interval but a wag of the tail has come at the ideal time for Middlesex.

  15. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Surrey 271 & 4-0 v Kent 369

Surrey's morning. They are still 94 runs behind, but six wickets for the hosts before lunch mean the first-innings deficit is not as great as they might have feared at the start of play.

Openers Rory Burns and Mark Stoneman will resume after lunch knowing one big partnership could get Surrey back into this.

  16. Dominant Durhampublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Durham 117 & 309-2 v Leicestershire 202

Alex Lees may have fallen for 93 but wow are Durham on top at Grace Road. They lead Leicestershire by 214 runs with eight wickets in hand.

    Utterly dominant.

  17. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Yorkshire 208 & 116-7 v Essex 328

    Keshev MaharajImage source, Rex Features

Yorkshire are staring down the barrel at lunch on day three at Chelmsford.

They're 116-7 in their second innings, still trailing Essex by four runs and with no recognised batsmen left. A lot will hinge on Kesh Maharaj, who is 26 not out and will then hope to make use of an ever more spinning surface if Yorkshire can set some sort of defendable target.

  18. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Somerset 108-6 & 326 v Notts 241

Nottinghamshire take five wickets this morning to reduce Somerset to 108-6. Ravi Ashwin has been the star man, claiming three of those.

The Somerset lead is still an ominous 193 though.

  19. Lunch at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Warwickshire 119-6 v Hampshire - target 404

Warwickshire have made it through the first session but three more wickets for Hampshire mean they can sniff victory along with their lunch.

Sam Hain has picked up where he left off with his unbeaten first-innings hundred. He is unbeaten on 61 but there has been precious little resistance from the rest of the Bears' batting.

  20. DERBYSHIRE 377 ALL OUT - AND LUNCHpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Derbyshire 108 & 377 v Worcestershire 113

Tom Lace finishes unbeaten on 132 as Derbyshire are all out for 377. Worcestershire have been set 373 to win.

What a strange match this has been. The sides made 221 runs between them in the first innings.
