  1. 50 runs

50 for Heino Kuhnpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Hampshire 409-9 dec v Kent 377-4

Heino Kuhn has kept things ticking over for Kent since the dismissal of talisman Joe Denly, reaching his half-century at the Ageas Bowl.

He's got there at a fair lick as well, hitting six fours from 76 balls.

Kent are 377-4, 32 runs shy of Hampshire's first-innings total.

AUSTRALIANS BOWLED OUT AT CANTERBURYpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Australian XI 397 all out v England Lions

Jon Holland is last man out at Canterbury as England Lions skipper Lewis Gregory nips in to get the final wicket.

The Somerset man bowls Holland to finish with 3-65 from 22.5 overs, having done his international prospects no harm whatsoever.

But Gregory has had to concede centre stage to the inspired Curran this morning.

It was a pretty fruitless task bowling at Canterbury for all the England contenders yesterday as the Aussies piled up 362-4. But what a different story this morning!

Six wickets lost for 35. And the incredible Curran took five of them in the space of 18 balls!

He finishes with 6-95, the seventh five-wicket haul of the already nine-times Test-capped 21-year-old's career. Definitely one to take note of for the England selectors, that.

Meanwhile, former Yorkshire and Worcestershire batsman Travis Head watched it all happen from the other end. He finished unbeaten on 139.

  3. wicket

    WICKET Bird b S Curran 11published at 11:46 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Australian XI 396-9 v England Lions

Six wickets now for Sam Curran! Five of them inside an hour this morning!!!

After a quick flail with the bat from Jackson Bird, including two boundaries, he becomes the Surrey all-rounder's latest victim, having his furniture rearranged.

"Curran for England," says BBC county cricket guru Kevin Howell on the 5 Live Sports Extra commentary.

"Well, in the Test squad, anyway," he quickly clarifies.

  4. wicket

WICKET Batty c Libby b Ashwin 29published at 11:46 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Surrey 240 & 216-9, Nottinghamshire 116

Make that 11 wickets for Ravi Ashwin.

An important knock of 29 comes to an end for Surrey stalwart Gareth Batty as he helped take his side's lead beyond 300 runs.

It's going to be a big old chase for Notts.

  5. wicket

    WICKET C Overton b Maharaj 2published at 11:44 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Yorkshire 520, Somerset 103-7

"Calling Somerset opening batsmen. Start padding up."

Kesh Maharaj bowls Craig Overton for his and Yorkshire's third wicket of the morning.

Somerset's target is 370 to avoid the follow-on.

    Gulp.

  6. Cook in dominant formpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Essex 245 & 107-1 v Warwickshire 161

    Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

Alastair Cook is finding the boundary with regularity and punishing any Warwickshire bowling errors after reaching his 176th first-class 50.

His partner in the middle Matt Quinn has the best view in the house - the nightwatchman is contributing very little but doesn't need to right now.

Essex are 108-1, Cook already on 67 and the overall lead up to 192 runs.

  7. for Ravi Ashwinpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Surrey 240 & 207-8, Nottinghamshire 116

Notts spinner Ravi Ashwin takes his second five-for in the match as Jordan Clark is trapped lbw for 54 trying to reverse sweep, and failing. His team already have a huge lead of 331 runs so I can't imagine he's too devastated.

That's 11 wickets in the match for Ashwin though.

  8. wicket

    WICKET Tremain b S Curran 0published at 11:37 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Australian XI 382-8 v England Lions

Surrey and England's Sam Curran in celebratory mood at CanterburyImage source, Getty Images

A second wicket in successive deliveries for Sam Curran - and he's on a hat-trick - as he clean bowls Chris Tremain first ball.

New man in Jackson Bird sees off the hat-trick ball.

Four wickets for the addition of just two runs in three Curran overs - four in 12 deliveries in fact.

After closing on 362-4 last night, the Australians have suddenly been left rocking this morning.

Is this some sort of magic England dust left over from Lords's last night and blown on the wind down the Old Kent Road to Canterbury?

  9. wicket

    WICKET Neser c Foakes b S Curran 0published at 11:36 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Australian XI 382-7 v England Lions

Another wicket for Sam Curran at Canterbury as Michael Neser is caught behind.

That's the Surrey all-rounder's fourth wicket - and his third in three overs this morning.

New man in is fast bowler Chris Tremain, who played a key role in Victoria winning the 2018-19 Sheffield Shield final at the MCG on 1 April.

  10. Postpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Hampshire 409-9 dec v Kent 350-4

Kent earn a fourth batting point in the 84th over, reaching 350-4 with Ollie Robinson (1) and Heino Kuhn (39) at the crease.

    They're 59 runs short of Hampshire's first-innings total of 409-9 declared.

How much can they push on now Joe Denly has departed?

  11. wicket

WICKET Bess lbw b Maharaj 7published at 11:32 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Yorkshire 520, Somerset 101-6

Dom Bess is the second Somerset batsman to be trapped lbw by Kesh Maharaj this morning and there really is some poetry in it. Only a few weeks ago Bess was on loan at Yorkshire as their front-line spinner, now he's been done for by his replacement.

He'll have to get over it quickly though. Firstly because he's probably going to be batting again later and secondly because he's back on loan at Yorkshire for the T20 Blast!

All very confusing, the cricket transfer system isn't it?

  12. 50 runs

50 for Alastair Cookpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Essex 245 & 93-1 v Warwickshire 161

    Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

A very fluent-looking Alastair Cook reaches the 50-mark for Essex.

The former England captain has found the boundary on six occasions on his way to 53 not out.

He's very much the lead man alongside Matt Quinn, who really needs to either get a move on or get himself out so Essex can push on - they're 93-1, leading Warwickshire by 177 runs.

  13. wicket

WICKET Paine lbw b S Curran 0published at 11:27 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Australian XI 380-6 v England Lions

Tim Paine out for a fifth-ball duck - and Curran has a third wicket at Canterbury.

Michael Neser is the new man at the crease.

  14. wicket

WICKET Denly lbw Barker 154published at 11:27 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Hampshire 409-9 dec v Kent 345-4

The new ball is enough to see the end of Joe Denly!

Keith Barker gets it swinging into the right-hander and gets him on the pad - Denly tried playing through midwicket but falls for a magnificent 154, adding 16 to his overnight total.

Kent are 345-4, trailing Hampshire by 64 runs as Ollie Robinson joins Heino Kuhn in the middle.

He might be gone, but could that be the knock that secures Denly a bit more of this come the first Ashes Test in just a few short weeks?

  15. 50 runs

for Jordan Clarkpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Surrey 240 & 203-7, Nottinghamshire 116

Jordan Clark reaches his maiden Championship ton for Surrey from 83 balls. It's included five fours and a six. This little knock has helped put the visitors in to a position of real dominance at Trent Bridge.

They lead by 327 runs with three wickets still in hand.

  16. wicket

    WICKET Marsh c Foakes b S Curran 38published at 11:21 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Australian XI 380-5 v England Lions

First wicket of the day in the England Lions-Australian XI game at Canterbury.

Mitchell Marsh is caught behind off Sam Curran - a second wicket for the Surrey all-rounder.

Travis Head has added just four to his overnight score and remains on 134 not out.

New man in is Australia Test captain Tim Paine.

One small clarification on the Aussies' name, by the way.

Cricket Australia confirmed to the ECB last week they would be called Australian XI in this match.

  17. 150 runs

150 for Joe Denlypublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Hampshire 409-9 dec v Kent 339-3

Joe Denly reaches his 150 - if England selectors are over yesterday's exploits I hope they're taking note!

The Kent skipper reaches the total from 221 balls, with 19 fours and a six.

The visitors are 339-3, just 70 behind Hampshire - but Kyle Abbott does have the new ball now, a crucial point in the game you feel.

  18. wicket

WICKET Hildreth lbw b Maharaj 37published at 11:17 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Yorkshire 520, Somerset 85-5

I think Yorkshire are keen to have tomorrow off you know.

If Somerset survive today, fair play. It's been made a heck of a lot harder for them by the quick departure of the obdurate James Hildreth for 37.

He does not pick Kesh Maharaj's top-spinner as he plays for the turn and sees the ball slam into his pads. Up goes the finger, bye bye James.

  19. Essex taking it steady against Bearspublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Essex 245 & 79-1 v Warwickshire 161

Essex v WarwickshireImage source, Rex Features

Sir Alastair Cook sees off a short, wide ball from Olly Stone for four - taking Essex to 83-1, a lead of 167 runs.

But what about the decision to have Matt Quinn with him as a nightwatchman? Essex could really do with upping the rate and putting Warwickshire under real pressure.

Kiwi Quinn has just one run from 22 balls.
