    Middlesex v Sussex 232-7 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

A fascinating morning with Middlesex initially fighting their way back into the game only for Sussex to stage a terrific recovery before lunch.

Having started the day on 128-3, Sussex collapsed to 151-7 with Toby Roland Jones taking three of the wickets to fall with a terrific spell of bowling down the hill

But enter Ollie Robinson, the hero of yesterday, who took the attack to Middlesex and together with Will Beers, has added an unbeaten 81 in just 15 overs as Sussex reached lunch with a lead of 157.

Tom Smith has contributed 26 to an unbroken partnership of 51, but the visitors still trail by 72 at the interval.

  4. Burgess in aggressive mood for Bearspublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Warwicks 384-7 v Somerset - lunch

A Tom Abell maiden to Jeetan Patel brings another difficult session to an end for Somerset at Edgbaston, where the home side secured four batting points despite the early loss of Rob Yates for 141.

The visitors have picked up three wickets, two of them for Jack Brooks, but Michael Burgess hit four fours in a single Jamie Overton over to reach 45 not out from 45 balls at lunch.

He has so far added 46 in 6.4 overs with Patel since Overton removed Henry Brookes - but the Somerset paceman has so far gone for 86 from 18.

  5. Tail wags for Hampshirepublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Hampshire 327-8 v Surrey - lunch

Kyle Abbott's unbeaten 52 and Ryan Stevenson's 42 not out have given the Hampshire scorecard some valuable lower-order extra runs.

It's certainly been Hampshire's morning after they added 105 runs to their overnight total, with the loss of just one wicket.

That went to Rikki Clarke who now has six wickets in the innings after dismissing Lewis McManus.

Keaton Jennings’ composed knock has put Lancashire in sight of a first-innings lead on the North Wales Riviera as he reached an untroubled 77 not out by lunch.

Michael Hogan claimed two early wickets, but Australian World Cup all-rounder Glenn Maxwell made a robust 31 before lofting Lukas Carey to Nick Selman at fine leg.

Dane Vilas then took up the momentum as the Glamorgan change bowlers failed to keep up the pressure, reaching 40 not out by the break.

  7. Wakely completes Northants tonpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Worcs 186 v Northants 257-3

A great morning for Northants batsman Alex Wakely, who is 101 not out at lunch after completing his first century of the summer from 233 balls with a push for one off Moeen Ali.

South African Dwaine Pretorius has provided aggressive support, hitting two sixes and nine fours in his unbeaten 70 - and the home side lead by 71 with seven wickets remaining.

It could be a long afternoon for Worcestershire.

    WICKET Patterson-White c Tattersall b Patterson 15published at 13:06 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Yorkshire 232 v Notts 131-6 - lunch

After taking a wicket with the first ball of the day, Yorkshire have struck with penultimate delivery of the session.

Liam Patterson-White will be kicking himself for getting out so close to lunch. He went to play at a ball from his near-namesake Steve Patterson and went to pull his bat away at the last minute, by which time it was too late and he edged behind.

An excellent morning for Yorkshire at Scarborough where they have taken six wickets, with Notts adding only 90 runs to their overnight total.

Ben Coad and Duanne Olivier have two wickets apiece, with Keshav Maharaj and Patterson striking just before lunch.

Notts still trail by over 100 but have four wickets to hold onto this afternoon.

for Kyle Abbottpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Hampshire 325-8 v Surrey

Abbott hits boundaries in consecutive balls off Jordan Clark to reach his half-century in 67 and 110 minutes.

His batting partner Ryan Stevenson will be looking to follow suit shortly as he is now on 42 not out.

  10. Kent tail holds up leaderspublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Kent 211-9 v Essex - lunch

It looked like Essex would be batting before lunch when they picked up two Kent wickets in the first six overs of day two at Canterbury - one each for Mohammad Amir and Sam Cook.

But they were held up by a stand of 65 between Harry Podmore and Matt Milnes before the latter fell to Ravi Bopara for 31.

Podmore was 43 not out when rain forced the teams off for an early lunch, and has a chance of a half-century when play resumes at 13:40.

  11. Durham pile up big totalpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Durham 461-8 v Leicestershire - lunch

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

A brief and passing shower took the players off with nine minutes to go before the scheduled lunch break .

Having seen Durham earn maximum batting points at home for the first time in two years, the discussion now switches to a possible declaration.

That will obviously be taken out of their hands if they lose two more wickets, but at least new skipper Ned Eckersley has a say in that because he will resume after the break on 31 not out and will be in the best place to decide if they should call it a day and put Leicestershire in.

Importantly four of the lbw dismissals in this game have come as a result of the ball not getting up off a length. Something for the Foxes to contemplate with bat in hand later. Play will resume at 13:30.

  12. Rain delay over at Kia Ovalpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Hampshire 312-8 v Surrey

The players are back on the pitch after a short rain delay with Kyle Abbott now on 45 not out.

He'll be eyeing that half-century before lunch.

Looking at the weather today, there aren't any ominous, huge bands of rain that we are used to seeing in the UK, so if we do get wet weather around the grounds, it should mainly be short showers....he said hopefully.

    Yorkshire 232 v Notts 125-5

Keshav Maharaj's disappointment at that missed opportunity a short time ago didn't last long.

The left-arm spin bowler bamboozles Ben Duckett and takes out his off-stump with a lovely ball that moved back in sharply.

Duckett had heaved Maharaj away for the first six of the innings this morning, so he probably enjoyed that.

WICKET Brookes c van der Merwe b J Overton 12published at 12:48 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Warwicks 338-7 v Somerset

Well that was a strange one.

Henry Brookes tries to flick away a leg-side delivery by Jamie Overton, but the ball flies to gully off the leading edge.

Jeetan Patel is the new batsman and opens his account with a perfectly executed off-drive for four.

  15. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

Keaton Jennings has progressed to 75 not out for leaders Lancashire, but Glenn Maxwell (31) has been caught off Lukas Carey in their 175-4 after 54 overs against Glamorgan.

Northants batsman Alex Wakely is five runs short of a hundred against Worcestershire, with Dwaine Pretorius on 54 at the other end. The home side are 235-3, a lead of 49.

Opener Chris Dent is on 49 for Gloucestershire, who are 119-3 after 44 against Derbyshire, still 81 behind.

Durham have just lost their eighth wicket, with Ben Raine lbw to Chris Wright, but are 456-8 against Leicestershire, with Ned Eckersley and Brydon Carse now together.

Sussex are now 109 ahead against Middlesex at Hove, with Ollie Robinson 16 not out and Will Beer on 15 in their 184-7.

Adam Lyth can't quite pouch a sharp chance as Liam Patterson-White cuts at Keshav Maharaj and the chance goes begging.

Ben Duckett and Patterson-White are both on 13 as Notts look to rebuild after a chastening first hour.

Mitch Claydon throws the bat at the first ball of a new Ravi Bopara over and picks up four streaky runs as keeper Adam Wheater in unable to get his left glove to it.

That's all for now, though, at the Spitfire Ground as a shower forces the players off the field.

Maybe Essex won't need the new ball to bring Kent's first innings to an end.

Matt Milnes edges to England's newest cricketing knight at first slip and his 65-run partnership with Harry Podmore is over.

Kent have a batting point, though, and Podmore is 42 not out as he is joined by Mitch Claydon.

WICKET Ambrose c Davies b Brooks 18published at 12:29 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Warwickshire 317-6 v Somerset

Tim Ambrose gazes at the toe-end of his bat for several seconds after he is dismissed following the resumption at Edgbaston.

We're not really sure why, because it was a clean edge through to the keeper from what was a fairly limp attempt at a square cut - it certainly didn't come off the toe.

That's two wickets this morning for Somerset seamer Jack Brooks, and he almost picks up a third as near namesake Henry Brookes edges past second slip for four from the next delivery.

Four singles come from Bopara's latest over, with Harry Podmore progressing to 37 not out and Matt Milnes on 26. They have so far added 57 and Kent need five more for a batting point.
