  1. NZ 126-2published at 43.3 overs

Archer bangs the ball into the middle of the pitch but the surface is slow and Taylor has plenty of time to get his head out of the way.

Ben Stokes is warming up. Finally.

  2. NZ 126-2published at 42 overs

    Latham 70, Taylor 42

The New Zealand commentators on TV are saying they thought that Taylor review was out. I've no idea what caused the spike. Taylor's boot in the ground?

Broad was having a chat with Taylor at the start of this over. Something like "did you hit that, mate?".

  3. 'It's turning into another day of frustration'published at 01:46 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2019

England could have had both of these players out since lunch. Certainly Ross Taylor, I don't think there was enough evidence to overturn that decision. Ben Stokes will be disappointed not to take that catch too. There have been moments for England but it's turning into another day of frustration.

Jack Leach is a very good bowler, he's good at containing sides. But, without some sort of mystery about you you're going to struggle on these pitches.

I agree with England's decision to pick five seamers, well four and a half really because we heard grumblings in the last Test than Ben Stokes is struggling with a knee injury. I completely understand England's mindset here.

  7. NZ 124-2published at 41 overs

    Latham 69, Taylor 41

Archer's gold chain is hanging outside of his shirt now. He's got his speeds up and tests Taylor out with a bouncer. The New Zealander plays it well though - swaying out of the way. That's an hour gone in this session and the hosts haven't lost a wicket. England will feel they should have had two.

England have done a lot of things right so far today. They haven't let New Zealand get away from them.

  10. NZ 124-3published at 40.3 overs

Faster from Archer. An 89mph delivery nips back on Tom Latham and hits him around the hip. Joe Root appeals for a catch but it was half-hearted. There's no bat in that.

Thomas Broadley: I thought the technology howlers were meant to be limited to Premier League football. They’ve had a mare there.

Joe Pearson: Am I the only one who clearly saw a tiny hotspot on that Taylor review?!?

  12. NZ 123-2published at 40 overs

A maiden from Sam Curran. He keeps the pressure on. Can Archer crank it up a bit more?

We've seen quite often that things do happen when Jofra Archer comes into the attack. Tom Latham was in two minds whether to leave that or to try and dab the ball down into the off side. It fell just short of Rory Burns at gully.

  14. NZ 123-2published at 39 overs

    Latham 68, Taylor 41

That was a much better end to the over from Archer. Latham almost fends one to gully on the sixth ball.

England should have a third wicket.

Ben Stokes is shaking his head there. Tom Latham was fending at it. It was a good effort from Stokes.

  16. dropped catch

Latham dropped on 66published at 38.3 overs

Down! It's Ben Stokes again. Jofra Archer finds the outside edge of Tom Latham's bat and it goes to Stokes at second slip.

He has to dive to left to get there but you'd expect Stokes to catch this nine times out of 10.

Stokes dropped BJ Watling in the last match too remember.

  17. NZ 121-2published at 38.1 overs

This is not good from England. Archer gifts Latham a leg-stump half-volley. The left-hander nails it but it was there to be hit. Four more.

  19. NZ 117-2published at 38 overs

    Latham 62, Taylor 41

Root has had to put a sweeper out for Sam Curran now. Zak Crawley jogs round to prevent Taylor getting another boundary through the off side.

    England are lacking potency again.

Ross Taylor has scored 14 off nine balls since overturning the lbw decision.
