    Derbys 185-6 v Lancs

I hope off the field too, but life on the pitch is certainly good for Billy Godleman at the moment, the Derbyshire skipper has guided his team to T20 Finals day for the first time and now he has a century against Division Two leaders Lancashire at Old Trafford after electing to bat.

    Big breakthrough. Big. Huge.

Heino Kuhn miscues a booming off drive and is caught in the deep by Paul Coughlin.

Liam Patterson-White has his first wicket of the innings.

Marcus O'Riordan, on first class debut, is the new man in the middle.

  3. Division Two Updatepublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

Here's the state of play so far in the second division games:

Northants have dismissed Paul Horton, Colin Ackermann and Mark Cosgrove at Grace Road, but Leicestershire are looking solid now at 182-3.

Mark Cosgrove (65) and Hassan Azad, 86 not out, put on 122 for the third wicket.

It was honours even at Bristol between Gloucestershire and Sussex.

But James Bracey, Tom Smith, Miles Hammond and Ryan Higgins have all been dismissed and the hosts have slumped from 63-1 to 139-6.

Billy Godleman and Luis Reece got Derbyshire off to a bright start against Lancashire at Old Trafford with a stand of 66. But since hosts ripped out five wickets for 57 runs to leave the visitors on 179-5.

Billy Godleman is 99 not out.

At tea Durham have struggled to 147 all out against Middlesex at Lord's, where Steven Finn finished with 4-41.

Worcestershire have collapsed to 165-7 against Glamorgan at New Road.

Riki Wessels was the last batsman out, caught by Samit Patel off Ruaidhri Smith for 45 off just 35 balls.

  4. wicket

WICKET Van der Merwe lbw b Maharaj 10published at 14:52 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 148-8 v Yorks

Just a touch of in-drift from Keshav Maharaj and Roelof van der Merwe can't get a bat on it.

More pressure on Tom Abell at the other end, not out on 55.

Jamie Overton joins his captain on the burning deck.

  5. Abell holding on for Somersetpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 147-7 v Yorks

Van der Merwe drives Olivier and a superb diving stop from Ben Coad keeps it to three.

There's a bit of away swing in evidence and Gary Ballance is the only man out on the leg side.

Tom Abell squeezes the third ball to long leg for one.

A big shout for a catch behind off Van der Merwe but it's not out.

Great one-handed take from keeper Jonny Tattersall.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Heino Kuhnpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 180-5

Jake Ball bowls... Five men on the off side.

Heino Kuhn chops the ball off the toe end of the bat for a 68-ball 50 with seven fours.

Not his best shot but still a fine innings.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

McManus lbw b Morkel 27 (Hants 149 all out)

But they are not holding on any longer, Morne Morkel has trapped Lewis McManus bang in front and the hosts are all out. There are 49 overs remaining in the day at the Ageas Bowl for Surrey to build their reply - or Hants to make some in-roads of their own.

A four-man team of groundstaff in matching royal blue garments begin the pitch preparations as the heavy roller takes away a little of the green tinge tinges in the surface.

  8. Hants holding onpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Hants 149-9

Last man Fidel Edwards is not going to hang around for Hampshire, he is playing a shot a ball here. The current ratio of making contact is not good though for the West Indian, who has a Test highest of 30, but a best of six not out in the Championship this term. Hants were 90-8 so this is something of a recovery.

  9. Stevens and Kuhn hold firm for Kentpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 169-5

Darren Stevens is up for the fight and the veteran batsman sweeps Ashwin square for four.

That's the 50 partnership with Heino Kuhn in 47 balls.

After reaching the 1,000-run landmark there are no more for Dom Sibley, who chips one back at Simon Harmer and is smartly caught high to his right by the spinner. All three wickets to him and leaders Essex claim their first bonus bowling point.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Abbott b Clark 27 (Hants 135-9)

Just about to tell you of a Hampshire rearguard but I look up and see the middle stump of Kyle Abbott rearranged by Jordan Clark, who now has a third wicket. The partnership ends on 45, maximum bowling points for Surrey and only one wicket left for the hosts.

  12. wicket

WICKET Bess c Bresnan b Maharaj 15published at 14:28 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 130-7 v Yorks

    Disaster for Somerset!

A miscued off drive by Dom Bess off Keshav Maharaj.

That's a fine low catch from Tim Bresnan and a precious 45-run stand is broken.

Roelof van der Merwe is the next man in.

  13. Stevens and Kuhn attackpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 158-5

More punishment for Ashwin, as Heino Kuhn dances down the track and drives the spinner through wide mid-off for four.

No let up at the other end - where Stevens punches Jake Ball through mid-on for four more.

That's 39 runs added in 37 balls by this pair.

  14. Sibley reaches 1,000-run landmarkpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Warwicks 140-2 v Essex

And there is it is, 1,000 Championship runs this season for composed 24-year-old Warwickshire opener Dom Sibley, who made 74 and 30 in the drawn match for the Lions against an Australian XI at Canterbury in July.

There is almost a run-out in the previous over as Sam Hain comes halfway down for a run before being sent back. Patient stuff from Sibley though, 155 balls he has faced thus far.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Tom Abellpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 119-6 v Yorks

124 balls and seven fours. Vital rearguard for Somerset.

He reaches the landmark with a neat clip to leg for four off Keshav Maharaj.

A tremendous hour for Sussex since lunch taking three wickets whilst Gloucester have added just 17 runs

Chris Jordan has led the way, bowling with pace and accuracy he had James Bracey beautifully caught behind for 61 and then Tom Smith went the same way for a duck.

Miles Hammond then mistimed a hook in George Gartons opening over to be caught at backward point, and suddenly the Sussex decision to bowl first looks a good one.

These are tense times for Kent supporters but their team aren't going down without a fight.

Darren Stevens tees off superbly with a lofted drive down the ground for six.

Three balls later Ashwin drifts to leg and is clipped behind square for four by Heino Kuhn.

WICKET Robinson b Ashwin 6published at 14:07 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Ravi Ashwin strikes again!

Ollie Robinson is the latest batsman to be bamboozled by flight and dip.

He fatally plays back and is trapped plumb in front.
