WICKETpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Borthwick c Dawson b Barker 7 (Sur 37-3)

Former Blackburn Rovers striker Keith Barker has struck in his second over, the left-arm seamer having Scott Borthwick caught at second slip after a bit of a hesitant dangle of the bat wide of off-stump, the 15th wicket of the day to fall at the Ageas Bowl.

  2. The latest in Division Twopublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

Here's the state of play so far in the second division games:

Northants have dislodged Hassan Azad for 86 and Neil Dexter for a first-ball duck to leave Leicestershire on 210-5 at tea.

Mark Cosgrove (65) and Hassan Azad put on 122 for the third wicket.

It was honours even at Bristol between Gloucestershire and Sussex.

But James Bracey, Tom Smith, Miles Hammond and Ryan Higgins have all been dismissed and the hosts have slumped from 63-1 to 165-6.

Centurion Billy Godleman and Luis Reece got Derbyshire off to a bright start against Lancashire at Old Trafford with a stand of 66. But since then the hosts ripped out five wickets for 57 runs to leave the visitors on 181-6.

Billy Godleman is 105 not out and the visitors are now 202-6.

At tea Durham were bowled out for 147 all out by tea against Middlesex at Lord's, where Steven Finn finished with 4-41.

Nick Gubbins fell lbw to Brydon Carse for a first-ball duck after the break.

    The hosts are now 34-1.

Worcestershire have collapsed to 186-8 against Glamorgan at New Road.

Riki Wessels was caught by Samit Patel off Ruaidhri Smith for 45 off just 35 balls.

Joe Leach was last man out, lbw to the same bowler for seven.

  3. Jamie Overton frustrates Yorkshirepublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 189-8 v Yorks

Tim Bresnan drops short and Jamie Overton pulls through mid-wicket for his fifth four.

The partnership with Tom Abell is worth 41.

Overton has 31 of those runs off just 30 balls.

  4. Pope orchestrates Surrey recoverypublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Sur 32-2

Oliver John Douglas Pope has not played for England since those two Tests against India last summer but he made an unbeaten double century against Hampshire last month and the 21-year-old has started well today, dispatching Fidel Edwards for three boundaries in an over with an array of pleasing strokes.

  5. Stevens and O'Riordan batting for Kentpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 215-6

Steady start from Marcus O'Riordan, who picks up two from Ravi Ashwin.

Stevens picks up one from Fletcher at the other end and O'Riordan defends.

  6. Overton on the attackpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 179-8 v Yorks

    Good shot, Jamie!

The Somerset number ten drives Tim Bresnan through extra cover for four.

    He likes batting against Yorkshire.

He managed a 50 against the White Rose at Headingley this summer.

  7. Essex strive for final session successpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    War 173-3

Slow going there at Hampshire but they are back out for the final session at Edgbaston as Sam Cook charges in for his 15th over. No wicket yet for the seamer and the wicketkeeper up to the stumps, which I always think must be a blow to the pride of a bowler trying to send it down at pace. Spinner Simon Harmer with the three wickets for the leaders to date, just the one bowling point so far.

  8. Glamorgan seamers on top at Worcesterpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Worcestershire 186-8 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Glamorgan’s seam attack have spent most of the afternoon session on top - with six wickets falling for 112 runs.

The stubborn Daryl Mitchell fell for a patient 36 just after lunch, while Riki Wessels smashed 45 off 35 balls before driving Ruaidhri Smith to mid off.

Timm van der Gugten has 3-44 on his return to first team action, while Michael Hogan has led the attack with his usual accuracy, and Worcestershire will need to claim some Glamorgan wickets tonight to get back into the game.

  9. Hants hit back after low totalpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Sur 19-2

Huge appeal from Fidel Edwards, who still bowls a lovely full, late in-swinging delivery to the left-handers, but this is one to Scott Borthwick is deemed to be heading down the leg-side. Still 38 overs left in the day at the Ageas Bowl, we have seen 12 wickets but not a good over-rate.

  10. Final session begins at Tauntonpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 173-8 v Yorks

A very handy knock from Jamie Overton before the break.

He has 21 off 18 balls. Can he bat on with Tom Abell?

Somerset need him to. Abell is unbeaten on 59.

Keshav Maharaj to bowl from the River End.

  11. Play resumes at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 207-6

    Honours just about even?

Notts will fancy their chances of keeping Kent below 300 if they can prize Darren Stevens out.

The senior pro has 43 and is back in the middle with Marcus O'Riordan, who will face the bowling of Luke Fletcher.

  12. Spin set to dominate at Edgbastonpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Warwickshire 171-3 (64 overs)

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

Even on the first day spin is looking the main threat on this slow Edgbaston pitch. The country’s leading wicket taker Simon Harmer has claimed all three victims to take his season’s tally to 68.

Warwickshire have batted in painstaking fashion as befits a team who would love a win but know every point they can eke out of the game will take them closer to first division safety.

Given the first division’s second highest wicket taker is Warwickshire spinner Jeetan Patel the latter stages of this contest could be interesting.

  13. Gloucestershire struggling at Bristolpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Gloucs 165-6 v Sussex

    Michael Perkins
    BBC Sport

Sussex have taken the ascendancy in a match between two of the defeated T20 quarter-finalists in Bristol.

It has been built on a spell of bowling from Chris Jordan, who appeared fired up after a modest morning session, taking 8-2 in 6 overs.

James Bracey and Tom Smith were out to him and they have also been joined in the pavilion by Miles Hammond and Ryan Higgins, leaving Gloucestershire with plenty of work to do in order to post a competitive total.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Elgar c McManus b Abbott 11 (Sur 15-2)

The 12th wicket of the day to fall at the Ageas Bowl as craggy left-hander Dean Elgar is smartly taken low down to his right by wicketkeeper Lewis McManus, Surrey's openers out in successive overs as they reply to Hampshire's 149.

  15. Kent press on at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Kent 211-6

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

A half century from Heino Kuhn has been the major contribution for Kent, who have reached tea on 211-6 on the first day of their match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The former South African international was dismissed for 56 by Liam Patterson-White as the visitors bagged their first batting bonus point.

Earlier, Daniel Bell-Drummond had scored 45 from 115 deliveries before being undone by a sharp piece of wicketkeeping from Tom Moores, who whipped off a bail with a heel slightly raised.

Kuhn chose the unorthodox route to combat Ashwin’s nagging pressure, twice reverse-sweeping for boundaries. Ollie Robinson was less fortunate, clean-bowled for only six to one that went on with the arm.

Darren Stevens announced his arrival at the crease with a straight six off Ashwin and the 43-year old is unbeaten on 43 at the interval.

  16. End of session at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 211-6

Kent are holding on but Notts will be buoyed by the wicket of Heino Kuhn.

Darren Stevens is 43 not out and Marcus O'Riordan has nine.

  17. Interval at Edgbastonpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Warw 171-3 (Hain 39, Lamb 14)

Spinner Simon Harmer completes his 23rd over with a huge appeal for a catch at short-leg but it's just the one wicket in the afternoon session for leaders Essex. Harmer has taken all the wickets today and has 3-33.

  18. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 173-8 v Yorks

Runs! A mis-field on the leg side by Ben Coad gifts Jamie Overton four runs off Olivier.

That's tea. The stand is worth 35 and it's starting to frustrate Yorkshire.

The visitors are still in a great position though.

  19. Stevens holds up Nottspublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Notts v Kent 207-6

Another fine shot from Darren Stevens, who whips Patterson-White through square leg for his fifth boundary.

He has 39 valuable runs from 50 balls.

  20. Tail wags for Somerset but Yorkshire in chargepublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Somerset 167-8 v Yorks

Duanne Olivier drops short. Jamie Overton muscles the ball away through mid-wicket for four.

Can he help Tom Abell and Somerset to 200?
