  1. wicket

WICKET Godleman b Harmer 9published at 3.1 overs

    Derbyshire 30-2 (target 161)

Essex captain Simon Harmer strikes with his first ball!

Billy Godleman tries to cut the spinner away, but the ball is too straight and it clips the top middle stump.

    Harmer's golden season continues.

  2. Derbyshire 30-1 (target 161)published at 3 overs

    Godleman 9, Madsen 2

That's a good comeback from Jamie Porter after conceding two boundaries off his opening two balls.

    Nine from the over.

The Falcons need 131 more off 17 overs.

  3. Derbyshire 29-1 (target 161)published at 2.2 overs

    Godleman 8, Madsen 2

Jamie Porter is taking some tap here.

Billy Godleman tickles the first ball of his second over down to the fine leg rope and follows it with a superb cover drive. Four more.

The Essex seamer has gone for 23 off his first eight balls.

  4. 'Unbelievable catch'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Derbyshire 21-1 (target 161)

    Lydia Greenway
Former England batter on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

That was an unbelievable catch from Adam Wheater!

The nature of the shot - as a wicketkeeper you never preempt where the ball is going to go, but you wouldn't have blamed him if he would have been wrong footed there.

The technique of the dive was brilliant, I thought it was going for a four.

  5. Derbyshire 21-1 (target 161)published at 2 overs

    Godleman 0, Madsen 2

Just what the doctor ordered for Essex.

The wicket of Luis Reece and just six runs from Aaron Beard's over.

Wayne Madsen is the new man in for the Falcons.

  6. wicket

WICKET Reece c Wheater b Beard 19published at 1.3 overs

    Derbyshire 19-1 (target 161)

What a catch by Adam Wheater!

Luis Reece smacks Aaron Beard over mid-on for four, tries to do the same next ball but nicks it behind. Wheater has to dive full length to his left and clings on with one hand.

  7. 'Runs are not coming easily'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Derbyshire 15-0 (target 161)

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

It looks a slow pitch and the runs are not coming that easily.

And, having been reeling when Essex got to 78-0 after eight overs, that’s quite a comeback by Derbyshire.

But, as to whether it’s enough of a comeback to now go out there and chase down 161 to win in their first crack at Finals Day, nobody in the ground would dare contemplate what the final outcome might be after what happened in the first semi.

But suffice to say that, now spurred on by the earlier victorious efforts of their flying Falcon mascot, they are up against an Essex side who have they never previously played before in T20 cricket.

And, if Derbyshire fail, then that would set up the first time Worcestershire and Essex have ever played in the T20 too!

  8. Derbyshire 15-0 (target 161)published at 1 over

    Reece 15, Godleman 0

That first over couldn't have gone much better for Derbyshire. Or worse for Essex and Jamie Porter.

15 from it, all from the bat of Luis Reece. Damaging stuff.

  9. 6 runs

    Derbyshire 14-0 (target 161)published at 0.3 overs

    Reece 14, Godleman 0

    What a start for Derbyshire!

Jamie Porter opens the bowling for Essex and Luis Reece smacks him for back-to-back boundaries before pulling him square for six.

Fourteen off the first three balls. Madness.

    Essex 160-5 v Derbyshire

Essex Eagles are in a huddle on the outfield.

Falcons skipper Billy Godleman and Luis Reece stroll to the middle, bats swooshing around.

They'll want to get Derbyshire off to a flier.

MJ: What strikes me about the four sides today is that none of them panic when under pressure. They all believe in their skills and that no cause is lost.

  12. 'Essex could have given themselves more comfort'published at 15:57 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Essex post 160-5 v Derbyshire

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Essex will feel like they have given away the platform that they created, the wicket maybe looked like it was coming on a fraction easier, they really went at Derbyshire and came out of the blocks.

At the halfway stage I thought they were looking at 180 plus.

They could have given themselves some more comfort knowing that this is Derbyshire's first T20 Finals Day.

    Thanks Brendo.

160 never feels like quite enough in this day and age, but we saw what happened in the first semi.

It's still gorgeous at Edgbaston. Good conditions for batting surely?

  14. Essex post 160-5 v Derbyshirepublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

So which of these two teams will be joining Moeen Ali's Rapids in the T20 Blast final? We're about to find out. Gary Smee will be talking you through the next 20 overs.

  15. Essex post 160-5 v Derbyshirepublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

What do we reckon then, Falcons fans? Is this on?

Worcestershire managed to defend 147-9 in the first semi-final so Derbyshire will need the biggest score of the day if they're going to be sticking around for the evening.

    That's that!

Adam Wheater ends on 20, Paul Walter on eight and Derbyshire will be chasing 161 to reach the T20 Blast final.

  17. Essex 156-5 v Derbyshirepublished at 19.3 overs

A most welcome boundary for Essex! Adam Wheater digs a wide yorker out and guides it for four.

    Three balls left...

  18. Essex 151-5 v Derbyshirepublished at 19 overs

    Wheater 15, Walter 5

    Not out! Adam Wheater survives!

I have to say, that was super close and I'm not completely convinced there was any foot behind the line but he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Luis Reece has been superb and ends with 2-24.

Ravi Rampaul will bowl the final over of the Eagles' innings...

Now then, have we got a stumping from the final ball of the 19th over?...

  20. Essex 148-5 v Derbyshirepublished at 18.3 overs

Luis Reece is bowling the penultimate over and just three runs come from his first three deliveries. All very tight.

It's now been 31 balls since our last boundary...
