  1. 'Bopara wicket is big'published at 15:44 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Essex 145-5 v Derbyshire

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

That's a big wicket in the context of giving Bopara three overs to finish the game he can really hurt you but it's also well done by Rampaul, he saw him go early and just adjusted at the last minute.

  2. Essex 145-5 v Derbyshirepublished at 18 overs

Paul Walter is the new batsman in and the Eagles will hope he can get a shift on.

The over doesn't end very well for Derbyshire, however, as a ridiculous mix-up in the field allows Adam Wheater to snatch three when it probably should've been just one.

    Twelve balls to go.

  3. wicket

WICKET Bopara c Reece b Rampaul 27published at 17.4 overs

    Essex 141-5 v Derbyshire

Is it about time for one of these two batsmen to have a bit of a dig? Ravi Bopara thinks so and, well, it's not ended brilliantly.

He attempts a scoop shot against Ravi Rampaul, who's been bowling at a decent pace since coming back into the attack, but can only plonk his effort straight to Luis Reece.

    Not pretty.

    Heartbreaking.

  5. Essex 137-4 v Derbyshirepublished at 17 overs

Adam Wheater and Ravi Bopara are really struggling to get it away - we've not had a single maximum in the innings yet.

There's a bit of drama midway through the 17th over as Matthew Critchley bowls a beamer and the Eagles will have a free-hit - but the spinner's recovery is an excellent one, arrowing a quicker ball down at the batsman's feet.

  6. 'Nicely balanced'published at 15:33 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Essex 129-4 v Derbyshire

    Ian Bell
Former England batsman on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It's nicely balanced but Essex are still in a real nice position. They've got their form player in Ravi Bopara at the crease and if he can do what he's been doing all season then I'm sure they will get a score that they'll feel confident in defending.

  7. Essex 129-4 v Derbyshirepublished at 16 overs

    Wheater 6, Bopara 21

Luis Reece has been very tidy, claiming 2-18 from his three overs so far. As I said before, taking pace off the ball is doing the job just nicely for Derbyshire.

Four overs left in the Eagles innings.

  8. Essex 123-4 v Derbyshirepublished at 15 overs

We're three quarters of the way through the Essex innings and the Eagles are going at 8.20 - but can they sustain it?

Eight runs come from the 15th over, with only a brilliant bit of fielding from Alex Hughes preventing a boundary diving on the rope at fine leg.

  9. Essex 115-4 v Derbyshirepublished at 14 overs

    Where now for Essex?

They've barely mustered a run during the past five overs or so - but we saw from the first semi-final that this isn't necessarily a pitch for big totals.

Adam Wheater joins Ravi Bopara in the middle.

  10. wicket

WICKET Westley c Hughes b Reece 39published at 13.2 overs

    Essex 107-4 v Derbyshire

At one point it looked as though this could get a bit messy for Derbyshire, but they've come back brilliantly in the middle overs.

Tom Westley attempts a lofted sweep shot but lands his stroke straight into the hands of Alex Hughes, who takes his second catch of the semi-final.

    He's out for 39 from 34 balls.

  11. Essex 107-3 v Derbyshirepublished at 13 overs

    Westley 39, Bopara 8

It's a good start from Ravi Bopara!

He ends the boundary drought by guiding Alex Hughes for four, but the spinner comes back well to limit Essex to nothing more than a few singles from the rest of the over.

Hughes ends with figures of 2-24 from his four sets of six, which isn't to be sniffed at.

Jacob Coton: My brain is so confused at the moment... I really want Derbyshire to win the Blast today because it would be the ultimate underdog story, but also want Somerset to win next week which means Essex need to win so they are hungover for the big one on Monday.

  13. Essex 99-3 v Derbyshirepublished at 12 overs

Wickets win matches and the runs have really dried up here for the Eagles, who are struggling with pace taken off the ball.

No boundary for 16 deliveries and the pressure is on Ravi Bopara to come in and hit the ground running.

  14. wicket

WICKET Ten Doeschate lbw b Reece 1published at 11.2 overs

    Essex 96-3 v Derbyshire

Now this is a big wicket for the Falcons!

Luis Reece is into the attack and makes an instant impact, trapping Ryan ten Doeschate in front as Essex lose a second batsman in the space of six deliveries.

  15. Essex 95-2 v Derbyshirepublished at 11 overs

There's plenty of experience at the crease now with these two here.

After a 78-run opening stand, there's no doubting that Derbyshire need wickets if they're to keep the score sensible.

  16. wicket

WICKET Lawrence c Critchley b Hughes 3published at 10.2 overs

    Essex 93-2 v Derbyshire

    Another one for Alex Hughes!

Dan Lawrence attempts to smash the spinner into the stands but can only get a thick outside edge straight into the hands of Matthew Critchley.

    Here comes Ryan Ten Doeschate...

  17. Essex 91-1 v Derbyshirepublished at 10 overs

    Westley 33, Lawrence 2

    Tom WestleyImage source, Rex Features

Tom Westley gets down on one knee and smacks Matthew Critchley down to cow corner for four. A couple of balls later, he attempts to loft the spinner to the off-side boundary but can only pick up a couple.

I wonder if the former England man will adopt the role of aggressor now Cameron Delport has departed?

Dan Lawrence is the new man in, by the way.

  18. 'Delport did his job'published at 15:08 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Essex 81-1 v Derbyshire

    Lydia Greenway
Former England batter on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Of course Cameron Delport will be disappointed but he's done his job.

Paul Dulieu: Listening to T20 Blast Finals Day on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra from the Congo. It doesn’t get much more surreal than this but, regardless of where I am, I wouldn’t miss the mighty Essex trying to do the double!

Somerset fans might have something to say about that next week Paul!

  20. Essex 81-1 v Derbyshirepublished at 9 overs

That's a really superb over from Alex Hughes, who gets the wicket of danger man Cameron Delport and limits Essex to just three singles.

The Falcons could do with a bit more of that, truthfully.
