It feels like the toss for the final is going to be crucial, you're almost going to want to bowl first, get any purchase you can and then when it starts to skid a little bit more later you want to chase when the ball is coming on.

Derbyshire can be proud. To get to Finals Day is an achievement.

They have been limited in resources in terms of overseas players they've had at their disposal this year so they have had a lot of players who have stood up for them.

If you're a fan you'd be very proud.

Essex bossed that game from start to finish, it looks like they are peaking at the right time and they'll hope that they will put in another performance like they just have.

We've now got two teams that are full of confidence going into the final.

    Breaking

Essex (160-5) beat Derbyshire (126 all out) by 34 runs

That's it! Essex will face defending champions Worcestershire in the final.

Cameron Delport finishes things off for the Eagles as Ravi Rampaul skies the spinner to long off where Aaron Nijjar takes a fine catch running in.

Derbyshire's chase never really got going as the spinners shackled them.

The final will get under way at 18:45 BST.

Essex have done really well, they have taken a lot of pace off the ball and they have been captained well again by Simon Harmer.

Few more of those please Ravi!

Ravi Rampaul biffs Simon Harmer over cow corner and straight into the crowd.

    Reverse sweep. Out.

Daryn Smit tries something a bit different as Simon Harmer comes back on, but picks out Cameron Delport behind point.

It's a fourth wicket for the Essex captain.

  13. Derbyshire 118-8 (43 needed off 18 balls)published at 17 overs

    Smit 19, Van Beek 15

Derbyshire are starting to find some boundaries as Cameron Delport comes into the attack, but they're still heading to defeat.

    Nine off the over.

    And now a wicket...

  14. Derbyshire 109-8 (52 needed off 24 balls)published at 16 overs

    Smit 16, Van Beek 11

That's a much better over for Derbyshire - 13 coming off Dan Lawrence's third.

But it's probably too little too late.

  15. 6 runs

for Van Beekpublished at 15.3 overs

    Derbyshire 107-8 (target 161)

    Yes!

Logan van Beek smacks Dan Lawrence straight over his head into the stands. 94 metres!

    Where did that come from?!

  16. Derbyshire 96-8 (65 needed off 30 balls)published at 15 overs

    Smit 10, Van Beek 3

The crowd's gone a bit quiet for the first time today. They're waiting for the inevitable.

Ravi Bopara goes for just four off his third over. Nowhere near enough for the Falcons.

  17. Derbyshire 92-8 (69 needed off 36 balls)published at 14 overs

    Smit 7, Van Beek 1

Derbyshire need 69 off the final six overs with a couple of wickets left. Not happening.

    Derbyshire 91-8 (target 161)

    Another batsman is bowled!

That's the sixth in this innings. Fynn Hudson-Prentice tries a huge mow against Dan Lawrence but doesn't connect.

This is going to be a bit of a thumping I'm afraid Falcons fans.

  19. Derbyshire 88-7 (73 needed off 42 balls)published at 13 overs

    Smit 4, Hudson-Prentice 1

Essex spinner Aaron Nijjar finishes with 3-26 off his four overs.

  20. wicket

WICKET Hughes st Wheater b Nijjar 23published at 12.4 overs

    Derbyshire 86-7 (target 161)

    Oh dear.

It's not to be in Derbyshire's first-ever appearance at Finals Day.

Alex Hughes dances down the pitch to Aaron Nijjar, the ball spins away, beats the right-hander and Adam Wheater whips off the bails.
