Jeetan Patel floats one up wide of off-stump and Tom Kohler-Cadmore thumps it away through through the covers for his 16th four and brings up a 113-ball century. Patel wasn't impressed by that delivery and kicks the ground in frustration with himself.

Kohler-Cadmore's partnership with newcomer Tom Loten is worth 74 - the latter is now 20 not out.

  3. Northants held up by rain at Bristolpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

  5. Solid start for Durham in must-win game for Glamorganpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 75-2 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

It’s been a day of frustration for Glamorgan’s promotion hopes at Chester-le-Street as their seamers failed to put Durham under quite enough pressure following a delayed start.

Water seeped through the covers onto the square, meaning a 90-minute delay despite the sunshine.

Alex Lees has batted through the first session on 42 not out without too much trouble, despite losing Cameron Steel lbw to Michael Hogan for one and Angus Robson nicking Lukas Carey to slip for seven.

BJ Watling joined Lees in a stand of 42 before the belated interval.

The pitch is at one end of the square, leaving a very short boundary towards the Castle Stand and a huge expanse towards the dressing-rooms.

  6. Pope on the attack at the Ovalpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Surrey 137-2 v Notts

Notts off spinner Matt Carter tosses the ball up and Ollie Pope is on the drive but there's no run.

The next ball is quicker, straighter and flicked to square leg for four runs.

  7. Rain set in at Tauntonpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

Somerset 75-4 v Essex - rain stopped play

Will we see any further play today in the title decider at Taunton? Keep your fingers crossed.

  8. Lunch at Riversidepublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 75-2 v Glamorgan

Alex Lees plays out a David Lloyd maiden and goes to lunch unbeaten on 41.

He's played a vital rearguard with BJ Watling (20 not out) after the hosts fell to 33-2 this morning.

Remember, Glamorgan need a big win here to keep their promotion hopes alive.

They'll hope for better weather than we have at Bristol this afternoon - where play between promotion contenders Gloucestershire and Northants was stopped by rain two balls into the afternoon session.

We asked you about the possibility of Essex spinner Simon Harmer qualifying to play Tests for England. here are a couple of contrasting viewpoints. Keep them coming.

from @charlesfairs: "#bbccricket, external I don't want Harmer to play for England, purely because I'm not sure how we'd cope without the 100+ wickets he and Porter pretty much guarantee us every year... We'll cope when Jamie gets called up but we couldn't deal with losing both!"

from @scotty196: "Given Harmer’s Test Career lasted 1 summer, & he took the decision to be a Kolpak player, why not consider him for England? He knew doing it wouldn’t be great for SA selection. It would be foolish to ignore such a talent. Plus it’s never an issue when other athletes change country..."

  10. for Richard Gleesonpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Leicestershire 86-6 v Lancashire

Superb bowling by fast bowler Richard Gleeson, who completes his fifth 'five-for' of the season for Lancashire with two wickets in successive overs.

George Rhodes is bowled by one which may have nipped back a little off the seam as he attempts and airy drive, and Harry Swindells loses his off stump to a superb full-length delivery which went the other way, like a rapid leg-break.

    Surrey 123-2 v Notts

We've got a hold up in play as the umpires pore over a box of replacement balls.

Just the third ball change today, folks. Here we go...

Scott Borthwick drives Jake ball to cover but there's no run.

He picked up his 50 just before lunch off 89 balls with seven fours.

A good unbroken 53-run stand with Ollie Pope to stabilise Surrey after the hosts lost two wickets to Paul Coughlin in the 17th over this morning.

A leg side ball is superbly taken by the keeper Chris Cooke.

Watling tries to guide the next ball to third man but the ball bounces in front of third slip. No run.
