Tomorrow should be a cracking day. Scrap that. The next two days (I can't see it getting to the fifth) should be brilliant.

Credit Joe Root, he's captained the side excellently today.

They can't have been looking very hard. Everyone had meat paste, right?
#bbccricket
James Beck: My mum once got stopped in the street to do market research on meat paste - apparently the people were very excited to find someone who actually bought it
More from Sam Curran on Sky Sports: "Rooty has spoken well about trying to win that first session. We did that really well.
"He was really pleased how we backed up spells. Most of the bowlers went for under threes, Bessy did an amazing job. There's not much for the seamers and not much for Bessy. Somebody has to do it - and hopefully he can get a three- or four-for to win the game.
"That is a flat wicket but at the same time there is a channel that we're trying to hit. It's about being as patient as possible and every now and again there's something there."
On no-balls not being called: "It is annoying as a bowler, but we shouldn't be bowling them."

Michael: Ben Stokes could catch road-runner.

Former England bowler on The Cricket Social
Stokes changes games. If he's not getting runs or taking wickets, he can affect things in the slips.
England's Sam Curran, who has 2-39, on Sky Sports: "What a way to finish the day. Hopefully we can get a lead.
"We're in a good position. Hopefully we can get those two wickets in the morning and bat big.
"The support has been amazing. It's my first time playing in Cape Town and it feels like we're playing at home."

That was England's day. It was the patience thing - they hammered away and didn't let things get away.

Rob Meech: Never write off Broad and Anderson. Still worth their weight in gold to this team.

England women's seamer on The Cricket Social
They have all bowled well - in a situation where they had to. Broad set the tone at the start of the innings and was my bowler of the day. Dom Bess was relentless and was the unsung hero of the day.

The bowlers need that support from the fielders - and England have had it today.

England have got a real opportunity to put pressure on South Africa. Maybe we'll look back and say that first innings wasn't too bad.

Rob Nield: Anderson and Broad showing there class but don’t underestimate the unreal job Dom Bess has done today.

If you were an England fan yesterday and this was the South Africa score that was offered you, you'd have taken that.

A remarkable day.
