If you want to teach your child how to play the perfect cover drive, show them videos of Quinton De Kock.
Steady as you like as Woakes runs in, De Kock keeps his head still, gets his foot to the pitch of the ball and times it like a Swiss watchmaker. Glorious.

Chris Etheridge: Supposed to be clearing the house before the builders knock through the wall to connect up the extension. Instead I am following #bbccricket and promising myself I will start later today. Meanwhile, Rosa the dog has just watched Pieter Malan's innings highlights.
It is Ben Stokes now and he bowls a couple of beauties to the left-handed De Kock.
The ball shapes across the batsman, who plays inside the line. Nip, bounce, shaping away. Ben Stokes made a lot happen that over.
But there is a bit of frustration for England for the first time in a long time as they try to break this partnership. It's now worth 61.

England haven't really looked like getting a wicket since they got Philander out. The way South Africa are playing, the issue of the follow-on could be taken out of Joe Root's hands. It's moments like this that you start looking round for a spinner...
South Africa have two left, England one. You're welcome, Jon.

Jon Hayes: Can someone put the amount of reviews a team has on the #bbccricket scores please...
It's Woakes again, not Stokes. And it's another maiden.
We are sat here now discussing how much pocket money we got and when it stopped.
I think if you have a paper round, you shouldn't be eligible for it.
Meanwhile, South Africa's interim Director of Cricket, Graeme Smith, puffs his cheeks out as he watches on. He looks deep in thought.

Mike Bell: Joe Root's use of reviews sometimes reminds me of a small child who gets their pocket money on a Saturday morning and simply can't stop themself from spending it as soon as they get it, even if what they spend it on is completely unsuitable.

Joe Root takes the ball over to umpire Joel Wilson and questions whether it should be changed. Wilson does the ring test and the ball fits.
Sam Curran bowls full and wide, De Kock gets forward, down on one knee, and sends the ball crashing down to the cover boundary for another highlight-reel four.
Ben Stokes is loosening up, he's yet to have a bowl today.

BBC Test Match Special in Johannesburg
Special South Africa shirts are on sale before The Wanderers turns pink in two weeks.
When England return to Johannesburg they will play in what has become the annual Pink ODI, raising money this year for the Breast Care Unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg.
The event, inspired by the Jane McGrath Pink Test in Sydney, has been going since 2011 with over 5m rand raised over the past five years.
So if you’re coming out for the limited-overs series, make sure you pack something pink ready for the day.
It was during the pink game in 2015 when AB de Villiers struck the fastest century in ODI history taking just 31 balls to reach his hundred against West Indies and finishing with 149 from 44 balls.
The ball was rising and replays showed it was going over the stumps.
But as Aggers says, not too much is happening out there for England. We were treated to so much excitement by England's tail yesterday, and then by the seamers, that any lull in the game today is heightened.

You can see why Woakes reviewed that. Not much has happened and De Kock is playing pretty well.
SA 142-7
England lose one of their two reviews. As suspected, far too high.

I'm reviewing that every day of the week. It looks pretty good.
SA 142-7
De Kock not playing a shot and struck on the pads. Woakes is interested. This looks pretty high. Wishful thinking from Root?
Some interesting choices there, Charlie. I'm sure there will be a few who may disagree.
The talk this morning was centred around whether Root would enforce the follow-on.
Well, if these two carry on in the middle, it may well be a pointless debate.
Curran continues and is greeted with another beauty of a cover drive by Pretorius for four.

Charlie Rhodes: Composite XI from the series: 1) Burns 2) Elgar 3) Crawley 4) Root (c) 5) Stokes 6) Pope 7) de Kock 8) Bess 9) Wood 10) Rabada 11) Broad.
The players are refreshed. Some new gloves for De Kock. And Chris Woakes comes back into the attack.
So often we've seen a wicket follow the drinks break. But there's no lapse in concentration here from De Kock as he sees out a the over with ease. A maiden.
The Wanderers ground is still fairly empty but, as we've seen in the first two days, you can expect it to fill up as the day progresses.

At the moment only QdK would be anywhere near getting in our Test side. Considering coming into this series we were inexperienced and badly out of form, that shows just how bad SA really are.
