  1. SL 99-3published at 16 overs

Ellyse Perry returns for her final over. Singles, scampering, mishits. The last boundary scored by anyone other than Chamari Atapattu came in the ninth over. Perry ends with 0-23 from her four overs.

  2. SL 95-3published at 15 overs

Nilakshi de Dilva is the new arrival, with the wicket immediately halting the momentum. Only four singles from this Strano over. Five to go. You'd think Sri Lanka need at least 130.

I feel that's going to be a game-changer. She knows it - she's smacking her thigh.

    Atapattu c Lanning b Carey 50 (SL 91-3)

Is that the moment that keeps Australia in this tournament? Chamari Atapattu has walloped Nicola Carey straight to extra cover. Atapattu was looking like putting this game beyond the Aussies. Now the other Sri Lanka batters have to step up.

    SL 91-2

What on earth has happened here? I've never seen anything like this before. Two run out attempts, at different ends, from the same delivery. First Atapattu gets home at the striker's end, then Healy throws to the bowler's end, where Sanjeewani dives home. I think the batters even collided in the middle...

Strong celebration from Atapattu - clenched fists, a swing of the arm and then she raises her bat to the Sri Lanka dug out. She has absolutely leathered the ball to all parts.

Atapattu loves playing against Australia, I think she thrives on beating the number one side. Sri Lanka have got a real shot at this - we saw the other day that Australia couldn't defend 120.

    SL 90-2

What a knock this has been. High class from the Sri Lanka skipper, who has a half-century from 37 balls.

In other news, the sun is trying to shine, so I may give up on weather watching.

    It's raining...

Carey's full toss flayed through point by Atapattu. She's on 49...

She looks so calm and collected, Atapattu. She stands there with her hands on her hips, saying 'Come on, bowl the next ball'.

  12. 6 runs

    SL 85-2published at 13 overs

A couple of nights ago, Sri Lanka were in a very similar position against New Zealand, but fell apart. If they manage to hold it together from here, they might put something beyond the Aussies, who are fighting for their future in this tournament. Don't discount the rain, either. Fetch that! Atapattu picks up a sweep over square leg for a maximum.

You know it's bad when the entire ground groans as one. Alyssa Healy could barely look at Megan Schutt after that miss.

Megan Schutt's been drinking whatever Nathan Lyon had.

    SL 76-2

This is a huge miss! Confusion in the running, Sanjeewani slow to set off. Alyssa Healy the softest of throws to bowler Megan Schutt, who doesn't collect when the batter was miles out. Remember Nathan Lyon at Headingley? That.

  16. SL 68-2published at 11 overs

How often do you see a spinner operating with fine leg back on the fence? That tells you how concerned Australia are about Sanjeewani's sweep. It means the right-hander only picks up a single. It's getting darker....

If Australia get these two out, it's a completely different story. If these two stay in for another six overs...

Thank you, Lofters. Molly Strano is on, bowling her straight-breaks. For a little while earlier on, when Atapattu and Thimashini were together, I was taken back to Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana.

  20. SL 63-2published at 10 overs

I’ve had to put the lights on because it’s a bit grey outside...

Carey gets away with an awful full toss as Atapattu clubs it to the fielder at cover. Tidy enough from Carey, and Sri Lanka can only muster a smattering of runs from it.
