This is great control from Perry. She's bowling on a handkerchief at the moment.

  3. SL 17-1published at 4 overs

Ellyse Perry continues, missing a hint of that outswing, but an awkward flap from Thimashini adds another single to Sri Lanka’s total.

  4. SL 16-1published at 3 overs

Atapattu is up and running, first flicking Schutt off her hips before casually smoking the number one T20 bowler over cover for another four. Terrific batting.

It's not the smartest shot I've seen from Thimashini. You've got to get yourself in on this Waca pitch. Megan Schutt is one of the world's best T20 bowlers and she's just shown her class.

  7. SL 8-1published at 2 overs

    Wallop!

A half volley from Perry and Thimashini absolutely smashes it straight back past her and down the ground for four. Lovely, lovely stuff.

    Almost a wicket first ball!

Umesha Thimashini throws the kitchen sink outside her off stump and a thick edge just, just, evades the diving Meg Lanning at slip.

Sri Lanka are up and running.

It’s got a bit dark, you know...

    Here’s Ellyse Perry.

  10. SL 0-1published at 1 over

Umesha Thimashini is the new batter at the crease, but that’ll be a wicket maiden from Megan Schutt first up!

Gone! Megan Schutt strikes, third ball!

I’m not sure that was necessary. Hasini Madushika goes for a huge heave, slices the ball into the air and it absolutely flies to Beth Mooney at point.

The Waca ground lets out a huge roar as Schutt wheels away in celebration. WELL.

Hasini Madushika and Chamari Atapattu, who I could watch for days, will open the batting.

There was some talk, incidentally, that Ellyse Perry could miss this game with a shoulder problem.

She’s in the Australia XI, however. Here they come onto the field...

    Hello from Perth!

We’ve had the toss, and it’s gone Sri Lanka’s way. They’ll be batting first - and there’s talk of rain around us...

    Morning!

It didn't go to script for the hosts in the opener on Friday, Australia falling to a shock defeat against India.

Today they face Sri Lanka, who lost by seven wickets to New Zealand in their first match.

So neither side can afford any slip-ups at the Waca in Perth.

    The pressure is on.
