  1. Ban 24-1published at 4 overs

Still the miserly Shikha Pandey, swinging the ball in to the right-hander and away from the left. Sanjida islam is batting only in a cap - no helmet required. A throwback. Just five from the over. Pandey has conceded only seven from two.

That did look like a 16-year-old attempting to field a ball; she didn't read it very well at all, kind of spun around and then fell on the floor. That should have been taken.

  3. M Khatun dropped on 14published at 3 overs

    Ban 19-1

Should have been taken! Murshida Khatun gets a top edge on a sweep, but Shafali Verma gets in a tangle at square leg and barely gets a hand on it.

  4. Ban 17-1published at 2.4 overs

Four more! This time pulled away.

  5. Ban 13-1published at 2.3 overs

    Target 143

Sanjida Islam is the new arrival, watching from the non-strriker's end as Khatun swipes Sharma to mid-on for four. When Sharma pushes it wider, Khatun throws her hands through a cut for four. Good intent.

Pandey just kind of puts it on the spot and is very hard to get away.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2 overs

    S Sultana c Sharma b Pandey 3 (Ban 5-1)

The first one goes! Shamima Sultana tries to force the pace, but completely cloths it to extra cover, when Deepti Sharma takes a comfortable catch.

  8. Ban 5-0published at 1.5 overs

Shikhar Pandey, the officer in the Indian Air Force, shares the new ball. Pandey sports a headband, just like the great Dennis Lillee, who terrified batsmen on this ground.

  9. Ban 3-0published at 1 over

Tidy stuff from Sharma. Cautious start from Bangladesh. No Shafali Verma-style fireworks. Yet.

  10. Ban 1-0published at 0.1 overs

It has to be said, the the countdown from 10 to the start of the innings employed at every ICC tournament is wholly unnecessary.

Here come the India team. They defended superbly against Australia the other night. Murshida Khatun and Shamima Sultana are the Bangladesh openers. Deepti Sharma is going to open the bowling with her off-breaks.

While we wait for the resumption, can I point you in the direction of the latest column from England skipper Heather Knight? It involves Queen guitarist Brian May. If that doesn't get you reading, I'm not sure what will....

On another note, the idea to have the third umpire calling front-foot no-balls during this tournament seems to be working pretty well. Whodda thunk it?

India got off to a fantastic start and Bangladesh brought it back well. They just didn't get their plans right at the end.

  15. Ind 142-6published at 20 overs

It could have been much, much more, but India will still feel like they have plenty. An innings that had a bit of everything. Shafali Verma's hitting, dropped catches, a comedy run out. Very entertaining. That's the highest total of the tournament so far.

  16. dropped catch

Pandey dropped on fourpublished at 19.3 overs

    Ind 140-6

That's the third drop. This time at deep cover. Pandey survives. It could have been a precious dot, too.

  17. Not outpublished at 19.2 overs

    Ind 138-6

Good decision from umpire Lauren Agenbag, who is only 23.

  18. Bangladesh reviewpublished at 19.2 overs

    Ind 137-6

This looks very close. Full, straight. Krishnamurthy the bat, Jahanara Alam the bowler...

It has been entertaining - a very, very good game so far.

  20. Ind 137-6published at 19 overs

23 have come from the past two overs. Bangladesh will be glad to get off the park. It feels like this innings has taken an age.
