    Du Preez b Dar 17 (SA 54-3)

    Gone now though!

Mignon du Preez unfurls the reverse sweep against off-spinner Nida Dar but manages to drag it on to her stumps.

Big wicket for Pakistan just as South Africa looked to be building a good partnership.

  2. SA 54-2published at 9.5 overs

Mignon du Preez smacks Nida Dar down the ground for four. Shot!

There is a mathematical scenario where England could win today and not go through to the semi-finals, but it's not going to happen.

Pakistan would have to chase down big targets in the space of about four overs, so it's not realistic.

  4. SA 48-2published at 9 overs

Shot! Mignon du Preez crisply sweeps leg-spinner Aroob Shah away for four.

But Dane van Niekerk didn't last long after her reprieve...

Walking off like this after reviewing an lbw is fairly ordinary. And you look a bit daft when it is then overturned...

I know it's a slower wicket than they've previously played on, but South Africa look a bit rusty. They're hitting the ball hard - but straight to fielders.

This is a stunning ground - and, actually, there are quite a lot of fans in, they've just sensibly opted to sit in the shade - but I'm not sure it's the best wicket around. It's slow. Really slow, actually.

  9. SA 39-2published at 8 overs

Key moment in the game here - can the hugely experience Marizanne Kapp and Mignon du Preez help build a challenging total?

Or can Pakistan remove both cheaply and really look to restrict the Proteas?

That's what South Africa needed - release a bit of pressure after all those dot balls. They just need to keep hitting the ball into the gaps.

They need to start rotating the strike as at this run rate, they'll only make 96.

  11. 6 runs

    SA 37-2published at 7.4 overs

South Africa needed this - Marizanne Kapp loosen the shackles by cracking it over square leg for six.

I've got a fact for you... 13 of the last 14 T20s between South Africa and Pakistan have been won by the team chasing.

  13. SA 29-2published at 7 overs

Young leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah enters the fray.

Again it's a tidy over until the last ball is a touch wide and cut away by Mignon du Preez for four despite Diana Baig's diving effort.

A long look from the third umpire but it's ultimately decided the ball rolled to where the rope had been before Baig displaced it.

I reckon the Sri Lanka-Australia game was lost when they had Australia at 10-3 - but then it was "we're allowed to put four fielders out, so we will", and Haynes and Lanning just took singles from there.

I would have thought Pakistan would have kept the field up, as they'd bowled brilliantly in the powerplay - but they've just put the four fielders back straight away.

    Joanne Broadbent
Ex-Australia batter on BBC Test Match Special

That was a decent shot, any variation in line and length and she whipped it away for four.

  17. SA 23-2published at 6 overs

Medium-pacer Aiman Anwar is into the attack and starts well but strays onto the pads last up and Marizanne Kapp flicks it over square leg for four.

Still, Pakistan will be very happy with that powerplay.

  18. SA 17-2published at 5 overs

Mignon du Preez is in, with plenty of work to do.

That's superb from Diana Baig - a wicket maiden.

Pakistan's bowling is their strength - can they restrict South Africa to a low enough total for their batters to chase.

That's exactly what you can't do on this wicket. She played too far away from her body. I'm surprised we've not seen more movement from the batters.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.2 overs

    Van Niekerk b Baig 3 (SA 17-2)

The Proteas skipper is definitely gone this time.

Diana Baig pushes it wide of off-stump, Dane van Niekerk unfurls a drive on the up but inside edges it into her own stumps.

Pakistan's fine start continues and Van Niekerk can't capitalise on overturning that lbw decision earlier.
