It's quick from Wood and a little bit of shape. He hasn't got it absolutely spot on but he's building it up. Like Stokes, he doesn't start strong straight away but give him an over or so.

  2. WI 56-1published at 18 overs

This is seriously quick from Mark Wood. 94, 95, 93mph in the middle of the over. Ollie Pope has crept in a little closer now at short leg under the helmet. Hope occasionally looks uncomfortable but he's not offering opportunites.

James: In my opinion give Rory Burns captaincy for the rest of the Test match and let Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler focus on what they do best and win us this match.

The flick off the pads looks to Brathwaite's only shot right now but it's doing the job. He adds four more to his name after flicking Stokes fine after the England skipper's line strayed.

Fenners: England selectors' obsession with pace has hampered our bowling potency. Broad was a must in these conditions & pitch, even Curran & Woakes more effective than just banging it in short.

Ben Stokes, his slicked-back, lengthening hair making him look like someone from Game of Thornes, brings himself on to bowl after 16 overs.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

Ooph. 92mph is good heat. Get that in the right area and you might get them playing.

  8. WI 48-1published at 16 overs

    Brathwaite 14, Hope 0

Wood is winning the speed battle between himself an Archer early on. This is very lively.

England fans will remember Shai Hope hitting those two hundreds at Headingley in that famous West Indies victory in 2017. He hasn't made another since.

I don't think any of the umpiring decisions were shockers. We're harsh on them sometimes and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt today.

Brathwaite is hardly playing a shot to Anderson.

Aamer Iqbal: If not for reviews, England might have only been around three down with 300 on the board. Mind you, Windies bowled well so maybe they would have got their man a few balls later anyway.

I want whatever Jimmy Anderson has for breakfast. The 37-year-old starts an eighth over of the spell.

  12. WI 48-1published at 14 overs

Mark Wood's fifth delivery is clocked at 94.5mph, Rapid.

  13. WI 47-1published at 13.2 overs

It's Brathwaite on strike for now not Hope and Wood has a similar field to Archer with a fielder around the corner on the leg side with the helmet on.

Brathwaite flicks the ball fine out of that man's reach for four.

Shai Hope is West Indies number three. Mark Wood replaces Jofra Archer.

Campbell played nicely but Jimmy deserved that. Just the accuracy and skill level. Can England get on a roll now?

There's a smile on Anderson's face now. Finally he has extracted a review. There was a grimace on his face at the end of the appeal.

Campbell lbw Anderson 28 (WI 43-1)

Third time lucky. England have their breakthrough and Jimmy Anderson can smile now.

This one was fuller than the previous two and that meant the ball would have gone on to hit leg stump rather than go over the top.

    England needed that.

There's not bat involved, it's bat on pad.

  19. Postpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 9 July 2020

Campbell has definitely hit his pad not but I don't think there is any bat on ball.

He's got to go for the review, just for the banter. This can't be missing.
