They can't even get a partnership going. This could end quite quickly if they're not careful.

  2. WI 12-2published at 8 overs

    Target 200

England are swarming. Chase blocks into the off side and Ollie Pope swoops in to the stumps in a flash to stop any hope of a single.

Archer is not bowling his fastest but this is world-class stuff.

Si Lomas: Shane Watson would have reviewed the Brooks dismissal.

  4. WI 12-2published at 7.4 overs

Jofra Archer looks like he's loving Test cricket again.

Has he got a little excited? A bouncer to new man Chase climbs and climbs over Jos Buttler's head for five wides.

What a start. This is tremendous for England. In the next hour or so, West Indies need to find a bit of momentum. Somehow, from somewhere.

He's played all around that. There's a lot of reviewing going on out there but he knows it is absolutely nailed.

Brooks lbw Archer 0 (WI 7-2)

    That. Is. Plumb.

Jofra Archer is off leaping in celebration with his arms outstretched. He is on a roll here.

Full and straight to Shamarh Brooks and it's the easiest lbw decision the umpire will ever get.

This is a tremendous start for England. It's very difficult out there for West Indies. Archer is bowling a terrific line and length at a decent pace.

You get the feeling that England are just on it.

  10. WI 7-1published at 7 overs

    Hope 0, Brooks 0

Still Hope waits to get off the mark.

West Indies are effectively 7-2, for now at least, remember This is the moment John Campbell retired hurt and the ball that may have caused the injury.

Still no word as to whether he will be fit enough to return.

All the talk was about Stuart Broad not playing and Ben Stokes choosing to bat first. Well, you could say that in a few hours time they might have been proven absolutely right.

  12. WI 7-1published at 6.4 overs

England look threatening but they'll also be very pleased with the fact West Indies aren't going anywhere with their scoring.

Hope is still yet to score, having faced nine balls.

I don't think that will be the last wicket where the ball is played onto the stumps. We saw a couple yesterday. It's that kind of wicket where the ball jumps up.

  14. WI 7-1published at 6 overs

    Target 200

Oh that is a little unlucky. Inside edge, onto boot and then onto the stumps.

Fist/elbow bumps - not high fives - all round from the England players.

Shamarh Brooks is greeted by a fierce bouncer from Archer.

That 200 target is already starting to look a long way off. Perfect length, seamed back and Brathwaite was unfortunate to play on.

A really good start for Archer and Anderson. They've bowled great lengths and given no freebies. A key wicket.

    Brathwaite b Archer 4 (WI 7-1)

Breakthrough! It's the big wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite, the batsman who can really stick around in this line-up.

Archer is on the money again and Brathwaite, perhaps a little unfortunately plays a full ball onto his stumps.

    England are on their way.

This was that close call for John Campbell before he retired hurt...

  18. WI 7-0published at 5 overs

    Target 200

Shai Hope has not scored another Test hundred since that win at Headingley. If he does so today West Indies will almost certainly win.

Jimmy Anderson keeps him pinned on the crease.

We'll keep you updated on John Campbell if/when we get any information from the West Indies camp.

This might help West Indies. Shai Hope is a quality one-day player and this is pretty much like a one-day game now. He has a target.

  20. WI 7-0published at 4.2 overs

Shai Hope joins Kraigg Brathwaite in the middle, the two stars of that famous run chase at Headingley in 2017.
