David Cook: Root is the new Denly.
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I can't think of a single shot Dom Sibley has played. Not one. He just gradually scores runs. It's like the good old days of Jonathan Trott.

BBC cricket correspondent on Test Match Special
The light is not very good. If there weren't floodlights we wouldn't be playing.
Stokes 8, Sibley 42
Ben Stokes goes fiddling outside his off stump and just about avoids nicking Jason Holder behind. That just moved away from Stokes as he pressed forward.

The Void: Sibley doing well here, playing a... er... Denly-esque innings.
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
Sibley just has to find a way to up the tempo once he has found a way to get in.
Shannon Gabriel is still off the field, incidentally. He had an ankle operation before this series and the Ageas Bowl was his first outing in a while.
Dom Sibley sucks in his cheeks as he sends a glance off the pads just short of the tumbling fielder at mid-wicket, but he breaks the monotony with a leisurely single.

When are England going to finally acknowledge they have a massive batting problem? The personnel may change but they all seem to suffer with a lack of patience and concentration. We can't paper over the cracks much longer if we want to win in Australia.

I was about to make a pithy comment to my colleague about Jason Holder's bowling but I've accidentally breathed in half a Jaffa Cake and now I can't stop coughing.
Going well, this.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Stokes just comes in - in bowler-friendly conditions, a bit dark - and looks a million dollars.

Sebastian Goodwin: Obviously Woakes and Curran have been brought in to strengthen the batting line-up, very astute selection there.
A clean clip off the legs adds another couple of runs to the total, courtesy of Ben Stokes.
Not ideal...
Stokes 4, Sibley 37
Dom Sibley is almost caught down the leg side again, as Shane Dowrich pulls off a superb diving take to a Jason Holder short ball.
Joe Root and his David Beckham 'do are sat staring at a laptop up in the England dressing room.

Daryl Guard: That is an awful shot from Root. Wafting so wide outside off stump straight after a drinks break. Stupid.
Theo HV: Another shoddy batting display from England in the first innings... all too familiar.
Carlos Brathwaite
West Indies all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special
This is good stuff from Alzarri. He is building pressure and not getting too funky.
Played, Alzarri Joseph! He sends another delivery jagging back through Ben Stokes' defence, the ball whizzing between bat and pad as Stokes gets squared up.
Umpire Ray Illingworth then pointedly wanders over to have a look at the pitch. It seems Joseph is close to landing in the danger area, as Bumble terms it. Maiden.
The 12th man has come out for Ben Stokes to bring him... a headband.
A HEADBAND.

As if life wasn't hard enough.
Jason Holder hustles his way through a tidy maiden.
