I'd say Sam Curran is the most in need of a barber out of all of the England players. His hair is wild.

He's finding more swing than Broad or Woakes managed. Brathwaite, never one to be too expansive, looks like he's only going to use one shot before the close. The block.

Bess' hands are on his head after Joseph edges one to third man but I think that was pretty well played. Alzarri has some bling boots with more than a flash of gold. You can't wear those if you can't play. Joseph drives nicely for three.

Sam Curran takes an awful lot of wickets for someone who never quite manages to nail down a place in the team.

Campbell lbw Curran 12 (WI 16-1)

Sam Curran makes the breakthrough four balls into his spell. It's plumb lbw.

There were two noises - the ball hitting both pads - which is what has fooled the umpire, I think.

    Good review from England.

In fact here Sam Curran is. He's found himself a headband too. Headwear is obviously a requirement to be in the England bowling attack these days.

I said this in the last Test but I'd definitely have been nominating a member of the squad to be the team barber if protocols allow. It can't be much worse than some of these barnets.

I suggested Joe Denly would be my man of choice last week. He has time on his hands now too.

Hello, John Campbell! That's a lovely drive down the ground for four. It can't be easy as a left-hander facing Stuart Broad in bowler-friendly conditions but that was top class.

The final ball of the over scoots low. Campbell did well to get bat on it. That's not a good sign for West Indies with a lot of batting to do.

England might have hope for a little more drama in this opening period. There has been just the one serious appeal.

Joe Root has three slips and a gully patiently waiting.
