  1. Eng 148-7published at 39.2 overs

Chris Woakes is still batting like a right-handed Garry Sobers, this time with a flat-bat over cover for four. He really is the Wizard.

Richard Place: Here in North Devon we are very proud of Barometer World.

  3. Eng 144-7published at 39 overs

This is like watching a Test match, especially with Australia's pace bowlers all over England's batsmen. It's very strange to see/hear the DJ belting out tunes to an empty ground. It's like being the first person in a nightclub so you can avoid paying the entry fee. Back when you could go to nightclubs...

There has been seven maidens today - that is the most bowled against England since March 2009.

  5. Eng 144-7published at 38.1 overs

One Curran departs, another arrives. Tom Curran watches Chris Woakes survive a Josh Hazlewood shout for lbw.

It's another soft dismissal - it was just a poke.

It was an innocuous shot. England have been in trouble for a little while now.

  8. wicket

    S Curran c Carey b Starc 1 (Eng 143-7)

The procession continues. Sam Curran was trying to run it to third man, but could only get a feather behind. A nothing shot, really. High risk for what would have only been a single.

    Eng 143-7

I think this is out. It looks like Alex Carey has his gloves around it.

Sam Curran caught behind? He's edged it, but has it carried? The umpires think it has...

I like these low scorers. It's like an old-fashioned game where 180-200 could be enough. England are going to have to be very aggressive with their field settings.

  12. Eng 142-6published at 37 overs

I think Sam Curran is at least picking Adam Zampa, which is a good start. What can England get from here? 200? Even that seems a stretch.

Sam Curran first up, away immediately.

It's the wrong choice of shot - it wasn't that short. It hurried on to Sam Billings and England were just starting to get some momentum so that's a shame for them.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 36.1 overs

    Billings b Zampa 8 (Eng 140-6)

Chopped on! Sam Billings is trying to cut, but Adam Zampa has got it hurrying on and bouncing. Billings gets an under-edge on to his own stumps. England lose another. The last recognised batsman goes. Commeth the Curran bothers...

Mitchell Starc, all loose limbs and headband, comes back with wickets in mind. The left-armer is round the wicket. Black socks, which no one ever approves of. England tick it around. Waiting for the late blitz is like old-fashioned ODI cricket.

Yesterday, the Australians had one of those walking-round-the-pitch days, without their shoes and socks on. Just to find the earth.

It didn't work in the World Cup for them but it's worked today.

  20. Eng 135-5published at 35 overs

Chris Woakes is playing a different game to everyone else. Now he's driven Zampa wide of mid-on for four. There is a hint towards a shift in momentum. Every run England get is one more the Aussies have to chase.
