This is an innings of which Dom Sibley would be proud. Shan Masood is hanging around like superglue.
Whoops. Four to Shan Masood as Chris Woakes loses his line, offering up a freebie on the pads that Masood can easily clip down to the boundary.
Oh, close. A half-shout for lbw, Masood playing around his front pad, but it's too high.

Shan Masood played that bouncer well, keeping his bat out of the way, but Joe Root liked that intent from Jofra Archer.
Excellent from Jofra Archer, bending his back on a short ball to Shan Masood, with that early morning movement all but gone.
Archer goes short again, Masood pulls, and a tumbling stop prevents a run. Masood turns another short ball around the corner for one to end the over.

The weather is, by Manchester standards, tolerable today. There's not a lot of wind, which was rather irksome yesterday.
Chris Woakes nips a delivery back in to Mohammad Rizwan, striking him high on the pad, but too high to trouble the umpire.

Did you spot England manager Phil Neale lugging the boxes around the boundary again? Must be online delivery day.
James Anderson is wiping the sweat off his back onto the ball. I know why they're doing it, and I know in cricketing terms, it makes sense. But explaining that to people who aren't that into cricket like it's the most normal thing in the world...
Mohammad Rizwan pushes three through cover, although he and Shan Masood almost collide mid-pitch.

Rizwan is playing with the solid defence that you need in England - let the ball come to you and hang in there.
Mis-timed from Mohammad Rizwan, aiming a drive down the ground and instead an outside edge goes squirrelling away into a vacant area.
He hasn't looked super comfortable, but he's hanging in there.

That was the most extraordinary leave you'll ever see. That has cut back a long way, it went right over the top of middle stump. It startled Rizwan.
A ripper from Jofra Archer, back of a length, rearing back to Mohammad Rizwan and just about avoiding the inside edge.
Rizwan sneaks a quick single to end the over.

Jofra Archer is going to replace James Anderson.
Mohammad Rizwan was given a reprieve thanks to the tiniest of edges a little earlier on.
Another ripper from Chris Woakes, beating Mohammad Rizwan all ends up, and Rizwan wanders away to short leg to contemplate life before readying himself for the next ball.
Chris Woakes will continue after drinks.

Dan Lawrence has been fielding for Stuart Broad. He's uncapped in all three formats, but still has a number - 68. What happens if someone else wants 68 before Lawrence gets to play? Do they take it off him? Also, with the amount of players England have used in the squad numbers era, are we getting to stage were they are all taken? Can anyone tell me which numbers are free, please?

This is the biggest examination of your batting technique: Jimmy Anderson, at Old Trafford, with the ball just moving a touch.
