I don't think he has hit it.
Now, Stuart Broad has actually appealed for this, which might work against England...
Hello, Stuart Broad strikes Shan Masood on the pad, big appeal...
Not out, but Broad likes it, and Joe Root sends it upstairs.
Babar Azam didn't play a shot that loose at all yesterday. Just a wafty, nothing sort of drive.
Stuart Broad will share opening duties with James Anderson.

He got it full enough to invite the drive. When the ball is moving just a fraction, that's exactly what you want to do.

That's a big wicket for England. It was pitched up, that was the crucial bit. And that's the length England should have persevered with yesterday. It was the perfect length, Babar Azam's eyes lit up but it wasn't really there for the drive.
Babar c Root b Anderson 69 (Pak 139-3)
Huge breakthrough!
Ah, this is a lovely bit of work from James Anderson, just getting the ball to shape away from Babar Azam from that nice, full length, and the Pakistan batsman can't resist. He goes chasing after it, a loose drive, and a thick outside edge flies to Joe Root at second slip. Root back-pedals a touch, clings on, and Babar has to go.
James Anderson is having a problem with the footholes at the James Anderson End.
Bit awkward, that, isn't it?

Pakistan do have a fairly long tail, so England will be hoping they can get among it quickly.
Good, full length from James Anderson, shaping back in to Babar Azam, and he plays it safely off his pads.
Everyone is ready but, because it's 10:59, they have to wait until it's bang on 11 before they start.
Try explaining that one to your non-cricket mates.
It'll be James Anderson to get us going this morning, wiping sweat from his brow onto the ball.
Three slips lurking as Anderson runs in to Babar Azam...

If Shan Masood gets out very quickly, people won't dwell on Buttler's missed chances. But if he goes on to get a century then people will zoom into that.
England are making their way out on the field, followed by the Pakistan batsmen.
Shan Masood will resume on 46 and Babar Azam on 69.

Pakistan opener Shan Masood speaking to TMS: "Old Trafford, as always, has decent bounce and carry. The wicket seemed dry from ball one. Dom Bess bowled well and got some purchase, we'll see what the pitch is like when both sides have batted."
On his poor record against James Anderson: "You live and learn, this is a game which teaches you a lot of harsh lessons.
"There's no harm getting out to one of the best bowlers to ever play the game. I have no shame in that. He's taken the wickets of batsmen far better than me."
BBC weatherman Owain Wyn Evans speaking to Test Match Special: "It is looking dry but a bit cloudy. There are a few showers around but these are very hit or miss. Fingers crossed, we will avoid these. We are starting to draw in much warmer air.
"We are expecting the dry weather to continue tomorrow and temperatures to rise."
I can't stop thinking about that Tweet from Monty.
Also, I 100% thought that it was cows that couldn't right themselves, not sheep. I may be a bit sleep deprived.
Thought of the day from Monty Panesar.

We've had some rain, believe it or not. Just some light drizzle. The cover is lurking in predatory fashion, just in case. But all being well, we should start on time.
