That was an opportunity for a five-for for Yasir Shah and he's ended up with the ball going for four.

  2. dropped catch

    Eng 216-9

I said Shadab Khan could field. Erm, well, he's just dropped a bit of a sitter.

Stuart Broad, having just hoicked a six over mid-wicket, tries to go again and top-edges. Shadab has all the time in the world but spills it, the ball trickling over the boundary rope for four.

Pakistan have been very impressive in every way that they have operated this week. They have looked like a team that are well prepared. You only have to look at the players that aren't playing - they work hard. At night, they're out on the pitch practising fielding drills and shuttle runs.

    A bail trimmer.

    Eng 205-9

He didn't nick it but TV replays show it would have gone on to just clip the bails. So umpire's call it remains. And Pakistan keep their review.

  6. Pakistan reviewpublished at 68.4 overs

Broad struck on the back pad. Pakistan appeal. Given not-out. If he hasn't nicked this then it could be close.

  7. Eng 204-9published at 68.1 overs

Shadab Khan is some cricketer. He can bat. He can bowl. And he's just shown that he can field.

The leg spinner chases the ball down towards mid-on, off his own bowling, slides and sends a quick throw back towards the non striker's end. Direct hit and Anderson would have been gone.

Amidst the Buttler debate, it's worth noting that Rizwan has taken two very sharp catches behind the stumps off the leg-spinners.

Rob Meech: The balance of this England side is all wrong. Why do they think they need five frontline bowlers? Woakes is two spots too high at number seven and the batting in general is so light I’m surprised it hasn’t floated away.

  10. Eng 202-9published at 68 overs

What's this then? James Anderson reverse-sweeps Yasir Shah, the ball flies past leg slip and through to the boundary. England are in a spin but that four brings up the 200.

    Azhar Mahmood
Former Pakistan all-rounder on Test Match Special

Shadab Khan is slightly taller than Yasir Shah, so he gets more spin and bounce on the ball.

  12. Eng 198-9published at 67 overs

In comes James Anderson and almost straight away is involved in a mix-up with Stuart Broad. A bit of a fumble in the Pakistan field and England come through for the single.

That caught the outside of the bat as Jofra Archer fended forward. He didn't even consult Stuart Broad.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 66.4 overs

    Archer c Rizwan b Shadab 16 (Eng 197-9)

Shadab gets in on the act and the Pakistan spinners have made England crumble here.

But what is Jofra Archer doing? He looks to leave and as he lowers his hands to get the bat out of the way, it finds the edge and into the gloves of Rizwan.

I tell you what, it was a good ball but Mohammad Rizwan is solid behind the stumps.

10 years ago, Broad & Trott put on 332 against Pakistan. I would be happy with a 32-run partnership at the moment!

    Stuart

  16. Eng 195-8published at 66 overs

    Yasir Shah 16-2-50-4

It was all going on in that over. An umpire review, a Pakistan review. But Archer and Broad survive.

  17. Not outpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Babar Azam, at slip, was convinced this got an edge. Yasir and Rizwan weren't so sure. And replays confirm what we thought... no nick.

It was a belated appeal from Pakistan and not a great deal of conviction from Yasir Shah.

  19. Pakistan reviewpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Yasir thinks Archer may have nicked this one as Rizwan grabs behind the stumps. I didn't hear a noise.
