I expect the BFG could make it lift off a good length, would be difficult to face on a bouncy pitch.

Things look much more positive now. It’s a bit brighter. The big sheets that cover the square have gone. The groundstaff are whizzing a rope around the outfield.

Rocky would be the ultimate lower order slugger, always called upon to save his team in dire circumstances, bringing them to the brink of success, whilst ultimately delivering a noble defeat.

A new round of matches in the Bob Willis Trophy begins on Saturday, including Hampshire crossing the border to make the majestic Arundel Castle their temporary home ground for a match against Surrey. Live commentary as always on BBC Radio.

Jamie Garg: I reckon Thor would make an excellent batter with his hammer skills while Captain America would be a brutal fast bowler. Also can't discount Batman, clues in the name

The covers are coming off. It's still overcast and the lights are on so we're just waiting for some cricket.
It's an unusual sight, a member of the groundstaff in shorts, wellies and face mask wielding a leaf blower. All part of the clearing up process. Rain further in the arid east at last this morning but it's dry at the Ageas Bowl at the moment.

The Incredibles would make a fine cricketing team. Mr Incredible on strike as much as possible hitting big sixes with Dash at the other end for quick singles if needed. Elastigirl has the field covered pretty much singlehandedly and Violet can use her forcefield to fend off ominous rainclouds...

Lighter cloud expected this afternoon and a reminder we can continue until 19:30 BST. Iced coffees have been the order of the day all summer - my wife makes an excellent one with caramel and ice cream - but it's a warm one required this morning.
An inspection in 20 minutes when hopefully we will have a start time for you.

Their poise, coordination and flair would make an opening batting partnership of Westley and Inigo Montoya from the Princess Bride a formidable one. Also reckon Fezzik could be included for some lower order pinch-hitting.

The two main umpires have split and are going to pass a word onto the two respective teams with an idea of what they want to do.
The umpires have been out and there will be an inspection at 11:50.
The Australian squad will arrive into the UK on 24 August, travelling to Derbyshire’s County Ground before transferring to the Ageas Bowl after England’s third Test against Pakistan on 27 August.
They will play a 50-over intra-squad practice game and three T20 practice matches before the start of the three-match T20 series against England on 4 September at the Ageas Bowl, where hopefully the weather will be better than the last couple of days.
Three uncapped players in there: wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe, 23, left-arm seamer Daniel Sams, 27, and pace bowler Riley Meredith, 24.
Here's the Australia squad for those T20 and ODI series with England next month:
Aaron Finch (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Riley Meredith, Josh Philippe, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.

Here we go. The third umpire has appeared like the Pied Piper with the groundstaff following behind him.

Given their ability to deflect blaster shots with their lightsabers, Jedis and Sith would make impressive batters. I bet Vader would set bodyline fields and use force hypnosis to prevent being no balled.

I suggest Obi Wan Kenobi, with his wavy use of a light saber, would make an excellent batsman in the Gower style, with sumptuous cover drives and the added ability to use his jedi powers to influence umpire decisions...
