Pakistan were about to begin their follow-on before bad light brought an end to yesterday's play. Captain Azhar Ali, who went not out in the first innings and was settled at the crease, promoted himself from number three to open the batting.

He crossed the boundary rope before umpire's decided to call it stumps. There were some questions as to whether Azhar would therefore have to open the batting this morning.

But I can confirm that he does not have to open and he has opted to go back down to his usual position in the batting order.

    The intricacies of cricket, eh?!

England's slip fielders may have been sloppy yesterday but, my word, this catch from Jos Buttler was just incredible.

Everyone out there will be feeling the angst of getting Jimmy to the target and ensuring they're not the one to drop it.

Pakistan captain, Azhar Ali, on Sky Sports: "As a captain I wanted to be leading from the front. Doesn't matter how much I score, as long as I show the other plays that it can be done. But getting runs and being not out, playing the whole day, is very pleasing and very satisfactory."

It's clear at the moment, actually rather pleasant, but we wonder for how long. We saw yesterday that the pitch is flat and Pakistan have plenty of fight. It might be a big effort for England to win this one today.

A gutsy century from Azhar Ali, stubborn batting from Mohammmad Rizwan, five-fer for James Anderson and some tragicomedy fielding from England. Here are yesterday's highlights...

    Erm, what can I say?

It doesn't actually seem to be raining at the moment, though. We live in hope.

    Morning!

Can James Anderson become the first non-spinner to reach 600 Test wickets? He's two away.

Will Pakistan put up a fight and salvage a draw? The weather could help them.

Settle in and join us for day four of the final Test of the summer.

Today could all be about one man.

Jimmy will be hoping for more of this...

    And definitely less of this...
