  1. Goodbye!published at 18:59 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

Will we get any play tomorrow? Will Jimmy get to 600? Will people stop dropping catches off him?

Let's try and answer those questions tomorrow.

Stephan's report from today is over here and Today at the Test gets going very shortly on BBC Two.

We'll see you in a bit.

  2. 'We're moving in the right direction'published at 18:56 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

Chris Silverwood speaking to Sky Sports: "We did pretty well to be honest on a docile pitch now - they held their discipline well, tried and that's all you can do really.

"We're going to get these sort of wickets away from home so we've got to get good at bowling on them and get the ball moving off a straight. If we get used to it hopefully it will hold us in a good stead."

On Zak Crawley: "One thing I love about him is if he gets a bad ball he'll hit it. He brought everything together brilliantly and it was superb to watch. The batting line-up is starting to build to something where we can get big first innings scores all the time and that's what we're building towards."

On the direction of the side: "I think we're moving in the right direction - we're constantly moving to get better all the time."

Kath Bentley: So we always ask how do batters sleep on 99 overnight .... But how will Jimmy sleep tonight on 599?!

Look, Jimmy in the last four years has been getting better and better, his average has been coming down. But the fact is father time doesn't wait for nobody. Who knows when the next Test will be, it could be next summer. So you ask yourself, how can you manage Jimmy Anderson's retirement from this team? It has to happen sooner or later. He can't go on forever. The selectors will be very happy if he can get that last wicket tomorrow.

We are in the middle of a pandemic. When will England tour? Will Jimmy Anderson be asked to play? There's conversation on what's the point of having Jimmy on flat wickets in Colombo or in UAE?

Dan Hall: Another day of lost overs due to bad weather/poor light. I still can’t understand why play cannot commence at 10 or 10:30am if conditions allow?

The match referee checked the forecast for today last night and decided that it was clearer in the evening than this morning hence the usual 11am start time.

The covers are coming on and the umbrellas are going up. So clearly, there won't be any more play.

Stuart Mitchell: Hoping tomorrow is not the washout that the weather forecast suggests it might be. Would be far too cruel on Jimmy to remain on 599 without knowing when the next Test match will be.
