    Masood lbw b Broad 18 (Pak 49-1)

Well, it's umpire's call, but still. It counts!

A bit of a blip from Shan Masood, who has essenially left a straight ball. The technology suggests it was clipping off stump but it looked bang out. Also, Stuart Broad didn't bother appealing, so you know it's out. Never question Michael Gough.

Masood hasn't played a shot and this is absolutely clattering into the stumps.

Oh, this is out! Shan Masood, lbw to Stuart Broad!

    He sends it upstairs.

In case you're wondering, we can play until 19:30, which could potentially mean a session that lasts three hours and 45 minutes. When England beat Australia in Melbourne in 1998, they completed victory in an evening session that ran more than four hours.

  5. Pak 49-0published at 23 overs

Abid Ali is OK to continue, and Jimmy celebrates by tickling his outside edge with the final ball of the over.

    Out comes the magic spray.

  7. Pak 49-0published at 22.5 overs

Abid Ali plays across his front pad, getting into an awkward position, but he gets enough of an inside edge on this Jimmy Anderson delivery to pick up two runs.

Anderson bends his back on a short ball and whacks Abid on the fingers of his top hand. Ouch. He's in a bit of discomfort, so out comes the physio.

That was a good ball, that really went a long way. Why has that particular ball moved when nothing else has today?

  9. Pak 47-0published at 22 overs

The first sign of movement comes as Stuart Broad comes round the wicket and gets a delivery to bounce and zip away from a groping Shan Masood.

That's some response, though, Shan leaning on his bat and driving a nice four back down the ground.

You can't hear any real noise from the ball, it's gone a little bit soft.

Anderson finds the outside edge of Abid Ali's bat, but the ball goes down and rolls folornly along the floor to the incoming cover fielder.

Big shout for caught behind off the final ball of the over, but I think it's ball hitting pad, rather than bat. Anderson gives up the appeal and Joe Root opts against reviewing it.

  12. Pak 42-0published at 20 overs

Straight as a die from Stuart Broad - this ball is doing nothing - and Abid Ali can easily prod and poke his way through a maiden.

From the other end, it's Stuart Broad.

Ross Auld: I've been to the dentist twice today and feel like I have been hit in the mouth with an Archer bouncer. Please let King Jimmy get 600 and Pakistan are bowled out to make this day a little better.

James Bracey, the substitute fielder, has come back out with the rest of the players, with Ollie Pope still struggling with his left shoulder.

Straighter from Anderson to end the over, a bit of extra pace, and a half-hearted lbw appeal is turned down by the umpire as Abid Ali jogs a single. A bit too leg-side, I think.

A solid block from Abid Ali, and we're back under way.

I think it'll be Jimmy to get us going after the delay.

Pakistan are still trailing England's first-innings total by 269 runs, but Shan Masood on 13 and Abid Ali with 22 have done well so far.

The target is there, Jimmy is two away. Let's hope he gets there.
