Big bounce for Dom Bess as it turns in to Abid Ali and loops up to short leg. There is a muted appeal from England's close fielders but the ball clearly hit the pad.
Another maiden.

A time I messed up at work? I once accidentally asked Michael Clarke about his sex life.
Something has Chris Woakes smiling as he runs in to bowl. Maybe he just read your tweet, Matt.
The Pakistan flag is draped over their balcony as the team watch this their captain see off a maiden.

Matt Thornton: Late 90s work experience at BBC Radio Devon. One day Suede were in doing a live set. Someone asked what I thought... “music’s ok; shame about the silly fringe though” says I... to the band’s manager who was none too pleased. Didn’t last there and now work in IT.

That went straight through him. It fizzed past the outside edge. It looked a touch quicker.
That is unfortunate, Harry! Hope you recovered quickly.
Full from Bess, it pitches to the right of Azhar Ali's feet and is dug out and angled past slip for a simple single.
That's the ticket! Bess darts it in a tad quicker and beats the outside edge of Abid Ali's bat. Almost perfect delivery.

I started my new job on March 16th this year. On March 21st I had to call in to let them know I had developed Covid-19 symptoms and they had to send home all staff who worked with me and deep clean the entire office. Bit of a clanger that one.

Drinks are over, Dom Bess to continue.

Here's another watch of the one wicket to fall in this Pakistan innings. Top work by Broad. And by umpire Michael Gough...

You have to be really on it after a drinks break. One slight misjudgement can cost you.

Paul Turner: Could be an interesting end to the day! Tornado watch issued for the next 3/4 hours along the south coast.

Jofra completes another straightforward maiden. I don't think he's reached 90mph so far today.
Aside from Stuart Broad, who on a couple of occasions found some movement, the ball really hasn't done much since the restart.
Time for drinks.

Arjun Singh: What’s Dom Bess’s batting average this summer, out of interest? I recall a couple of handy 30 not-outs that might be overlooked because he’s not bowled much.
He's averaging 55.5 in seven innings, Arjun!

Dom Bess will be good for England's over-rate.
Azhar 2, Abid 31
It looks pretty bright out there you know. If you think back to where we were a few hours ago, I wasn't even sure they'd be coming back out to play today.
Dom Bess can't quite find that sweet, rough patch as Pakistan pick up three from the over.
Mark Ramprakash
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
Pakistan have played normally. I've been impressed with the way they have been resolute in defence but played in a relatively normal Test match fashion.
Playing the system there, eh John?
Jofra continues with length deliveries and Azhar Ali comfortably prods, pushes and pokes. He looks like a batsman who is at complete ease out there. It's amazing what a century in the previous innings can do to a man under pressure.

For the ICC World Test Championship, captains in an obviously washed-out match should both declare both innings to result in a tie to get 30 points instead of 20 for a draw. Is that allowed? Worth considering during an English summer.
