    Hello from inside the bubble.

As JL says the weather and the venue are perfect.

The only thing we’re missing is the fans. The atmosphere will be a whole lot different to England’s last 50-over game on home soil.

There will be plenty of changes in the England team as well, with Test regulars Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, Joe Root and Jos Buttler rested.

It will be Ireland's 157th ODI since their introduction against England at Belfast in 2006 and they still have some familiar names in their squad, big-hitting Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien plus former skipper Will Porterfield have all played over 100 matches.

Other changes to look out for, third umpires will call the front foot no-balls, teams will be deducted one Super League point for every full over they are behind with their rates and both teams now have two reviews available per innings.

All this and much more besides is explained in Mr Mark Mitchener's in-depth preview, which can be found here.

  4. World Cup Super League beginspublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 30 July 2020

I've discovered the word kenopsia over the last few weeks, "the eerie atmosphere of a place usually bustling with people." It's behind closed doors again in Southampton's bio-secure bubble but there is certainly much to play for, not just a new series but the start of the new ICC World Cup Super League, a pathway to the 2023 World Cup.

Each team plays eight of the other 12 teams involved - four home and four away - over three ODIs, with 10 points for a win, and five for a tie, no result or abandonment.

The top seven join hosts India in automatic World Cup qualification, the bottom five enter a qualifying tournament with associate teams.
